Rangers leaving their captain in limbo

07:41 AM ET 12.05 | The King is wrapped up, but what about the captain? Ryan Callahan is one of three key Blueshirts unrestricted free agents without a contract. "This is where I want to be, obviously," he said following practice at the MSG Training Center on Wednesday, a short time after the Rangers officially announced they had agreed to a seven-year, $8.5 million per year contract extension with Henrik Lundqvist. "But like I said, I'm not going to air it out in the media about my contract and what's going on. Just go about my business on the ice, and that stuff takes care of itself." Callahan, 28, declined to say if his agent is talking to the Rangers about an in-season deal, though he told The Post two days ago: "There is absolutely nothing going on." He also doesn't think Lundqvist's deal affects him, either.

The Rangers only have 7 skaters signed for next season and if the cap goes up 2 or 3 mil about $27 million to spare. Yes Ryan, this deal affects you.

Yep. Just that much less of the pie for him.

Well there was Captain Jolly.

Callahan isn't the biggest kid on the block, but he can score, and still in his twenties, NY should not lose him.

Your Goalie did not leave a whole lot of cookies in the jar....good luck to you and your agent Ryan.

Canuck , i am not sure if you can find it , but man o man is it good cause it's bad. Those of us of a certain vintage will remember Corey crack and heroin head child star of the great movie "Goonies". Well it seems ole Corey crawled up and out of the drug addiction hole. Unfortunately he has decided he is a singer / dancer. My Daughters love Goonies and they sent me a link this past summer of this wannabe in a new music video. It's a tremendously deep song called Ascension Millenium . Brutally good/bad to watch. My Daughters have it saved in their laptops. Note the gloves , the artistic angst , and above all the voice and dance talent....i do hope you can get it........serious proof of what hard drugs can cause

Note - MTV viewers rated Corey Feldmans video one of the worst of all time - Lol

It seems to me that Callahan's strengths do not quite fit Alain Vigneault's style of play. I'm sure he loves playing in MSG, but I think he would probably be more productive on a Dave Tippett or Ken Hitchcock coached team.

We've all been touched by it and it's been suggested that we participate to show support for those going through it, those who beat it, and those that lost the fight.
