07:30 AM ET 12.06 | The issues facing USC's football team coming out of a tumultuous time -- one of which is an unsettled quarterback picture -- aren't simply going to melt away with the hiring of a coach to replace Lane Kiffin. For those who enjoyed USC's quarterback competition this year, the sequel is on its way. New coach Steve Sarkisian said Thursday that Cody Kessler, Max Wittek and Max Browne each will get a fresh look, starting in spring practice, and added that all positions will be open for competition. "We're going to start with a clean slate for everybody in the program," Sarkisian said during a fan webcast on USC's official site, "and give everybody a fair shot."

There are way too many U$C threads running on FN. Can we please get something relevant to comment about???

Nice recruiting pitch Sarks', a lot of high school players or players looking to transfer would jump at the chance to start for a former power house program like USC.
What this really is though is proof at how poor the Kiffins' are at recruiting and how much he sees now that he's there.
Will take a year before USC is back to consistent 3 loss or less seasons.

It's been done many times before with changes to the coaching staff.

They need a QB that can beat their rivals (ND and UCLA). Wittek and Kessler had a shot. Might as well give Browne "the keys..."

LOL, do you know that with the limited scholarships that USC, has been in the top ten of recruiting top talent the last 3/4 years. USC has the talent, they just need the right coach. USC is 9-4 going into a bowl game this year. Look at some of the other top teams in the country and compare that 9-4 record with them. Kiffin "didn't" do a poor job of recruiting, in fact that was/is his strong point.

Maybe they need better coaching.. If Sark can provide that...

If Browne wins the job.. I expect transfers for sure

I expect Wittek to transfer regardless. The open competition works for me. I still see Kessler winning the job, but Sarks offense is appealing to some of the current recruits who have not declared yet. FIGHT ON!!!

Good decision! I am rooting for Max Browne. He is clearly ready for the opportunity to start.
