05:29 PM ET 12.06 | The Green Bay Packers are hanging on to slim playoff hopes, so they will need to find a way to dig deep and come up with a big win over the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday. Unfortunately for Green Bay, star quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who is still recovering from a broken left collarbone, will be unable to play and he has officially been ruled out for the team's Week 14 matcup. Rodgers was hoping to play, but Packers head coach Mike McCarthy announced on Friday afternoon that the he would not be suiting up on Sunday. In Rodgers' absence, the Packers will need to hope that Matt Flynn can rebound from last week's poor performance and help to keep the team's postseason hopes alive. If the Packers lose on Sunday, there is a good chance that Rodgers could be shut down for the remainder of the season.

Matt Flynn, you are up.

I bet Mike McCarthy shudders every time he hears himself say that.

Everything about the Packers this season makes him shudder!

The headline should read:

"Aaron Rodgers, and the Packers, Ruled Out Until Week 1 in 2014"

I'll be at Lambeau on Sunday but Flynn can't fill Rodger's shoes.

They don't need him to fill Rodgers' shoes. They just need him to be better than Scott Tolzien and manage the game. If they can establish a solid running game....they'll be fine.

The defense has been lousy the past four games.

December 6, 2013  08:48 PM ET

Atlanta's allowing 135.4 yards per game on the ground, 30th in the NFL.

Green Bay just needs to run the ball and mix in some play-action passes to keep the defense honest.

Running the ball and controlling the clock keeps the _efense off the field.

I hope you're right because we can't afford another loss.

If the Packers lose, they're done. I think they know that.. so we'll see how they do, if they play a pathetic game like they did against Detroit, then this team has already quit and that would surprise me. I haven't seen this team quit under McCarthy..

They have predicted snow during Sunday's game. Maybe the cold weather will hamper the Falcons.

It's football 101, especially if it's snowing for the game.
