University of North Carolina police want to find out who splashed a cup of red paint onto the iconic Old Well early this morning. The paint was splashed on one of the white columns supporting the Old Well roof. It was repainted white at about 8 a.m. The vandalism took place on the eve of UNC's ACC basketball showdown with N.C. State. The Heels play the Wolfpack at 7 tonight at the RBC Center in Raleigh. Graffiti chalked on the brick sidewalk surrounding the landmark were also removed, and wet red bricks were the only remnant of the vandalism.

Nice! Looks who is tied up at the top of the ACC now....Duke's coach claims his players have been possessed by demons after dropping two straight including loss to Miami. The ACC tournament is going to be fun boys.

I agree jack, could be the best one we've seen in years...

I guess Coach K forgot to coach his own *** team. Gonna be a good one in Durham!

Why is this item here? It's about a prank, not sports.

the tarheels dealt with the prank just right - they whipped ncstate -- CoachK seems to be allowing his guys a little too much freedom -- plus, freshman fatigue is setting in -- and, if you live by the three, you die by the three. Duke has no post player other than Singler, and so they have to be at the top of their outside game and play more stout defense. a couple of losses now can be good or bad for March. the Tarheels will be coming into Cameron, and that's a tough call -- the Tarheels will have more to prove, so the burden will be on them -- and Hansbrough will likely prove to be the difference. those sportsmediatypes who so adore Beasley at KState really should watch Hansbrough game in and game out -- I've seen Beasley fade during games; I've never seen Hansbrough loaf for a second

As for as pranks go none compare to Auburn's student tradition of defecating on the lawn of the President of the University of Georgia the hight before their football game in Athens. This tradition dates back to the 1930s, well before indoor plumbing was common for either university.

Wait for it...

It's hardly a tradition. It's common courtesy to take a dump on any part of Athens' fine landscape.

February 22, 2008  09:48 AM ET

that 30 point victory at the beginning of the season was a prank, this is just some vandal with no respect.
