08:31 AM ET 12.07 | The Marlins are expected to finalize a contract with former Pirates first baseman Garrett Jones, who would give them a more established power hitter than Logan Morrison. Jones will make $7.75 million in a two-year deal, sources say. The Marlins will likely deal Morrison for a third baseman or prospects or pitching or whatever the front office deems to be the best offer.

Morrison always seems to be hurt. I don't see him as having much trade value at all.

Liked Garret Jones. He had a decent glove and could hit with some power, but the average was too low and he had a lot of trouble against lefties. That basically made him a platoon player and the Pirates couldn't afford to pay that much just to platoon him. Wishing him nothing but the best except when he plays Pittsburgh.

likely the marlins get a double AA prospect and if he get traded by the marlins? the miami team would be doing a hugh favor to Morrison, because he may take full advantage in the opportunity in playing better with another team,,,,,that's IF the injury rash leave him alone!!!!!!!!!!!!

sometimes a change of air and different managers/coaches could make the difference...or either they fail miserable or climb up the mountain whichever comes first!!!

Nate Mclouth play excellent w/the pirates, then the pirates trade him to the Braves, then Nate collapse miserable playing for the Braves, then he was playing w/the pirates again, the he signed w/the orioles a place where his career got a very fresh start,,,,and now the nationals had signed him to a very good deal,,,,,,

sometimes the teams will make the players a favor, either they move into a higher playing level,or failed miserable, but they can't pass from the floor at the end,,,,,Rodney was a faillure with the angels, then he signed w/the Rays and suddenly he play to the team higher expectations,,,wonder what happened???
either the weather/the city/or little demand and pressure from the fanbase??after all tampa its thin in
attendance the whole year!!!

That's just it. You never know how they are going to turn out in a new location. The reason the Pirates are cutting him lose is he was eligible for arbitration and they knew that he was going to be expensive to resign. They probably have a kid in AAA who could put up those numbers.
