NFLPA approves Jay-Z agent rule

09:33 AM ET 12.07 | Rapper-and-agent Jay-Z had another victory of sorts Friday after negotiating one of the richest contracts in baseball history for Robinson Cano on Thursday. On Friday, the NFL Players Association ruled that meetings with uncertified business associates such as Jay-Z, who owns Roc Nation Sports, are no longer a violation of the union's "runner" rule. In May, NFLPA-certified agents complained loudly when Jay-Z's company and previously little-known agent Kim Miale recruited quarterback Geno Smith as a client after Smith fired his original agents. Jay-Z had met with Smith in New York as a representative of Roc Nation even though Jay-Z is not certified as an agent.

From what I read, Geno's agent left more than a few bucks on the table because she essentially did not know what she was doing. I can see where the NFL might not have a problem with that ; )

What a union!!! I thought one of the primary responsibilities of a *real* union was to negotiate wages on behalf of their membership. Let's see...before now, this function was farmed out to authorized "business partners" and now *anyone* can do it. What is the union's raison d'etre now? Protect the rights of players to use drugs, performance-enhancing and recreational?

I think if you allowed that then you would open the door for everyone with an agenda to push and a couple of bucks to spend to consume the SB. I agree with the neutrality of it.

Pushing the beer agenda is OK as usual!!!!!!!! :)
