09:57 AM ET 12.07 | Sharks forwards Logan Couture and Joe Pavelski didn't think Penguins netminder Marc-Andre Fleury played particularly well Thursday night. Fleury made 44 saves in Pittsburgh's 5-1 win over San Jose. "We didn't bear down on our chances," Couture told reporters following the game. "Stats aside, I don't think that Fleury was that good. He gave up a lot of rebounds, and on a lot of shots, he looked shaky on. We weren't able to score on second chances." Pavelski shared the same sentiment. "He was fighting it all night. It felt like we could have had five. Pucks were bouncing and laying between his legs. There were a couple second opportunities, that there were times you didn't know how it didn't go in." The comments didn't go over too well Friday with the Penguins. "That's kind of a stupid comment," Pens defenceman Matt Niskanen told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. "Sure, they had a lot of chances. They didn't bury them because (Fleury) competed really hard."

I don't disagree with anything the Sharks players said. They had a lot of opportunities, but the Pens defense cleared a lot of pucks, and made some nice saves. Sharks also had a couple shots roll wide and a few times the puck hopped over their stick when they had a chance. Don't get me wrong MAF made some real nice saves, but there were 3 or 4 that could a, would a, should a gone in. You know what they say though: If, ifs and buts were beer and nuts . . . .

Sew... knit-picky... gosh darn it... go weave some other crochety tale of woe.

If this story is "news" then I have to check a dictionary to confirm the definition of news.

Time for the big move before the holidays, and then the big push before the O-lay break - some formerly hot-teams are going to start 'feeling the wrath' of the turd-team-on-the-ice, and some meaningul sorting out is about to ensue. Too many empty seats - gotta spike some interest. And don't forget the brawls.

Boys, the Pens pulled your pants down on center ice and spanked your arses red! You lost 5-1 and you're arguing MAF was not good? FCOL! What's wrong with you?

BTW, this is the mindset that keeps the Sharls as perennial also-runs.

The lone goal for the Sharks was actually scored by Engelland. It was a goal mouth pass that he deflected between Fluery's pads.

I wonder what their excuse was last night against Carolina.

Liked the ovation the Pens faithful gave to Tyler Kennedy.
