10:01 AM ET 12.07 | According to sources, the Diamondbacks made a strong, under-the-radar push to sign free-agent Carlos Beltran, who on Friday agreed to a three-year, $45 million deal with the New York Yankees. A source said the Diamondbacks' offer for Beltran was for three years and more than $45 million. It's possible the Diamondbacks were the team that reportedly had offered him $48 million over three years.

And now he'll have the joy of riding the subway like Sir Charles. That's worth $1MM per.

Sounds like his wife really liked it in NY, so I think he wanted to go there all along if he couldn't come back to St. Louis.

I'm sure at his age, he sees a benefit in being able to DH at times, too.

lol ? 1 mil per year ?thats not really much of a difference for a guy thats already made $ 160 mil

only JP Arencebia can get and got one million deal from the rangers, and i can tell you this,Arencebia will hit 20 to 25 homeruns, because the rangers are a team who would hit a bunch of homeruns,
aside from that this catcher could increase his tag for the 2015 season as a free agent,,,

i think he choose the new york city because Arizona its too hot,and in new york the weather its more
spring feel like,,,,plus the D'backs couldn't promised him a title something that the yankees may or may not be able to acomplished,,,,but at least the yankees could get into the playoffs even by the wild card berth,,,,

This is an awesome deal, if you're Carlos Beltran. What do the Yankees do in late May when both, Beltran and Ellsbury are on the DL? And it will get progressively worse as each contract year passes. The Yanks are managing themselves into a retirement village.

Beltran was fine both years with the Cardinals when he didn't have the luxury of being DH once in a while. I wish him all the best. I really enjoyed his time as a Cardinal. He's better off in the DH league now. 600 plate appearances the last 3 years by the way. That's plenty durable.

Oh sure, go with facts and ruin his story line. Hope you feel better....Jeesh!

well enjoy the moment,,for instant the team could use bothe players in both positions from time to time,,,the nerveous wreck in Ellsbury injury rash could hammered the yankees hopes, and beltran's ##
ccould either collapse or vanish in one night,,then again either player could play at the DH spot!!!
when healthy ofcourse!

yes players could had played w/a higher baseball level, better numbers and all, except when they move to another team/league,,,they either improved their new team or vanished themselves w/a full rash of
injuries!!!

Gracious response from a Cards guy.
Beltran could become a big time DH if his reflexes hold up!

He never had any intention of going anywhere but Boston or the Yankees.
