10:05 AM ET 12.07 | In a Q&A with Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo's high school coach at Oak Hill Academy (Mouth of Wilson, Va.), Steve Smith, revealed that Knicks star Carmelo Anthony is recruiting Rondo to play in New York. JJ: Are you confident that he'll be just as good, if not better, coming off of the ACL tear? SS: No, I think he should be fine. He took a long time off and he's rehabbed the right way. Whether he stays in Boston or not who knows. I know, talking to Melo (Carmelo Anthony), he's recruiting Rajon to come to New York. Melo thinks he'll come too. You never know about that stuff though. I think either way, Rajon will be fine.

He is trying to recruit somebody who will give him the ball a lot more. Look in the mirror first Melo! Your team won 2 in a row because you passed the ball and did some other stuff that helped the team other than chuck the ball!

IMO it is more likely that Carmelo Anthony will leave the Knicks than for Rajon Rondo to join NY. The Knicks are a train wreck that everyone wants to get off.

This is the under the radar , hot scoop. The Lakers, yes, those Lakers, are burning Danny Ainge's phone with possible names in an effort to pry Rondo from Boston. The Lakers view Rondo as the best option/replacement for a mostly finished Steve Nash. The Lakers have lots of respect for Rondo, having played against him twice in the NBA Finals. They've managed to keep this thing hush-hush, more to follow....

The Knicks are having a very lousy start to their season. But it's still early and their fortunes can change soon.

IF the Knicks can pull this off that would be the best thing for them, but I'm still not sold on what the Knicks could package for this to be sufficient enough for Boston

If Melo ever decides to shape his game a little and play more like Lebron and actually pass the ball once in a while, he would have no trouble getting help. As is, he has no self-awareness that he is a ball hog that can't win alone. He will not ever get close to a title while he plays like that. Top 5 talent, but no brain to go with it.
