This would imply that he was 'washed in' at some point. As a redsox fan, he was decent his first few years. But if you look at him objectively, that was because their opponents did not see his pitches enough (he only pitched one inning of so, in about ~70 games). That, and the last few years with sox he was getting shelled consistantly. Everytime he came in, it was 'hit-walk-etc'. He I could count the times on my hand he came in and got a 1-2-3 inning that last season. Usually it was 'load the bases and get lucky' type of thing...

He really didnt have 'electric stuff'. Just a product of being a closer and sheltered/overstated.
