Did Michigan State defense psyche out Ohio State?

10:16 AM ET 12.08 | Ohio State succumbed to Michigan State's defense without being beaten by it. All week it was said over and over and over again -- Michigan State has the best defense in the country. And when the game was all over and the dust settled, it held an explosive Ohio State offense that hasn't been stopped by anyone to 24 points. But the Buckeyes strayed away from Carlos Hyde, made mental mistakes and really seemed to shoot itself in the foot. After the game the most interesting comment I heard was when senior center Corey Linsley said the Buckeyes had built up the Spartans in their own minds -- "It was like we were playing the Bears." A large portion of football is mental, and maybe that had a little to do with how things turned out.

Don't know about psyche out, but they hit 'em in the mouth all night long.

They did miss a few open field tackles but BM is pretty good in the open field.

Similar to the way FSU smacked dook in the mouth and ran over defenders and body slammed WRs.

OSU had a good run. When they struggled against UM, the writing was on the wall.

No excuses - Big OSU fan here.... the game was simple - OSU still ran up over 250 yards rushing. If that's "controlling" some one - so be it. MSU played well. OSU did not. First drive was ridiculous with the penalties. Psyched out? Don't think so. MSU was prepared and played well. Cook had a fantastic game. Played well, and hurt the OSU D when necessary. It takes a solid D to help win a championship - OSU had a solid D for 2 quarters - that's not enough. They did run out of gas. Doesn't matter the reason - they ran out of gas - and couldn't close the game when they took the lead. No excuses - MSU out executed OSU in the end. Simple enough. OSU has nothing to hang it's head about. Just a bunch of jealous comments because OSU had a great year and most teams "WISH" they had that kind of year. OSU will play in a bowl game (not BCS). It's just time to start a new streak......

Msu made the adjustment at tge end of third and the buckeyes could not respond.

I'll be rooting for all Big 10 teams - even the ones I hate - only because of the press's lovefest with the SEC.....

No.

MSU had the #1 ranked defense in the country and they proved it on the field.

Sparty ain't been getting much media love so they made their own. Good job.

December 8, 2013  12:28 PM ET

And the Bucknuts would have an easier time if they played the Bears.

Seems fairly simple to me; tOSU lost to the best team they played this year, the rest of the schedule was mediocre.

Don't waste your breath further. The Big-10 schools NEVER win their bowl games because they're matched against teams with equal records to theirs and they can't beat any teams unless they completely stink. Michigan St. doesn't stand a chance against a Pac-12 team. Ohio St. barely beat Cal, the worst Pac-12 team in history. And Ohio St. vs. Clemson? What a pathetic joke. Is it possible to go from #2 to out of the top 25 in 2 games? The press' lovefest of the SEC is based on the fact that the SEC always kicks everyone's **** in the bowl games. Ohio St. hasn't beaten an SEC team in a bowl game in like 20 years, something like 0-10. And on and on.
