Fla. State still vulnerable to losing Jimbo Fisher

10:31 AM ET 12.08 | Despite the Florida State extension, it still may not be enough to completely shut down efforts from other big-name schools interested in Jimbo Fisher. Texas is among the wealthiest college football programs in the country and has long been rumored to be considering replacing veteran coach Mack Brown. Fisher does appear to have strong ties in Tallahassee. He has noted how much it has meant to his family to have the community's support while seeking treatment for his son's rare blood disorder, Fanconi anemia. The Fishers have had a lot of help raising funds and leading bone-marrow drives in an effort to find a match for Ethan Fisher, should he need a transplant, and to assist others who need bone marrow transplants to treat life-threatening diseases.

Its not about the extension. Its about the buyout.

Lose your Jimbo and your in Limbo.

FSU is a big name school. Why would any successful coach look else where.
Surely the University would be willing to match any offer out there.
Just look what coach Fisher has done for their program, they be back on the map!

Personally, I don't see the guy leaving. IMO he is one of the most in-the-right-job-for-him coaches out there right now, and is very connected to the T-hassee area.

Just the Orlando fishwrapper stirring the pot. Ignore.

I think if he left...

It would be for the NFL...

Only question is if FSU would pony up $8mil if UT called

Hard to say, they prob would give it a good shot but that's a lot of green for one guy.

LMAO! FSU has had just TWO coaches in almost FORTY YEARS!

Think Coach Bowden didn't get MUCH more lucrative offers (including The League) during his tenure at FSU? Of course he did. Think Jimbo hasn't ALREADY had more lucrative offers? Don't kid yourself. The 1950's era powerhouses are not the only GREAT gigs out there.

Jimbo will probably retire from FSU.

Big-name or little-name, I don't give a crap.

Jimbo has the Seminoles in the NC game and that's what matters.
