Heels snag Michigan target

Lost earlier this month in the continuing saga that is the recruiting of Terrelle Pryor was that Montour High School's Christian Wilson signed a letter of intent with North Carolina. Wilson had verbally committed to Michigan and would have signed with the Wolverines if Lloyd Carr and his coaching staff had stayed in place. But Wilson started looking elsewhere when former West Virginia boss Rich Rodriguez was hired to replace Carr. OK, but why North Carolina? "They kept in touch," Montour coach Lou Cerro said. "Even after Christian verbally committed [to Michigan], they would call."

A rehash of a very old story. I hope Wilson does well with NC.

You mean he doesn't want to play for a guy in a wizard hat selling snake oil?

February 21, 2008  08:53 AM ET

This is such a rehash. Who cares?

February 21, 2008  10:49 AM ET

Wilson is a very smart kid jumping from a sinking ship at Michigan. Thanks RR.

February 21, 2008  11:21 AM ET

This is the end for michigan! when you start to lose players to places like North Carolina, you have BIG PROBLEMS!!!

February 21, 2008  11:37 AM ET

It doens't really sound like Michigan was going after the guy all that hard anyways. If he was really that good he probably wouldn't be playing football at UNC.

February 21, 2008  12:03 PM ET

UNC is reeling in good players. They will be a ACC contender in a couple of years.

Ryanmal,

CW is a very GOOD player. What happened at UM is that Wilson didn't think he'd be used to his liking in RR's offense even though, according to reports, that RR explained to him more than once on how they wanted to use him. Obviously, CW either didn't believe RR or RR didn't do a good job in explaining his role. I tend to think that RR clearly laid out CW's role but yet CW didn't think he'd fit in.

Sexton looks for anything anti-Michigan for him to exploit, huh?

February 21, 2008  12:47 PM ET

I guess he doesn't want to respect your fresh.

February 21, 2008  12:57 PM ET

Sexton like ND right? there is your rationale for focusing on others misfortunes...cause things arent so great at home...

February 21, 2008  01:01 PM ET

February 21, 2008  01:48 PM ET

Thunderdragon. Michigan has a solid top 15 recruiting class coming in. Explain to me how it is a 'sinking ship.'

February 21, 2008  01:59 PM ET

He was STOLEN by a SMARMY SNAKE OIL SALESMAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Right Coach Tiller?

February 21, 2008  02:46 PM ET

I love Tillers comment, it's hilarious.

I'm a little surprised he isn't getting attention from other schools.

February 21, 2008  02:49 PM ET

February 21, 2008  04:03 PM ET

Woody knows how to deal with these players.

February 21, 2008  04:32 PM ET

That joke we have as an coach now. He ran off a very good QB and other players.

February 21, 2008  06:18 PM ET
