Manning blasts cold-weather critics

07:22 AM ET 12.09 | Occasionally, even Peyton Manning lets his emotions get the better of him, and he was hot over his cold-weather rep. And while he played it straight earlier this week when repeatedly asked if he was a different player in cold-weather games, Manning was, shall we say, slightly more expansive in a postgame interview for the Broncos' flagship station KOA 850-AM. Manning finished the Broncos' 51-28 victory with 397 yards passing and four touchdowns. Moments after the game was over, in response to a question about those who question his cold-weather play, Manning said: "Whoever wrote that narrative can shove it where the sun don't shine." Earlier in the week Broncos offensive coordinator Adam Gase had raised his hackles as well when asked if Manning has gotten a bad rap for his cold-weather play.

Let's see what happens when he encounters kryptonite - playoff games AND cold weather

It would irritate anyone to have to answer the same dumbazz questions day after day. There should be fines for reporters, or at least penalties. Ask a stupid question back up 15 yards.

Peyton its not really cold yet 20's and 30's ain't cold lets wait for some single digits with wind chills below zero before you start talking.

If I was a bronco fan I would be more concerned about my any weather defense.

That's what's going to get them beat. It seriously looks like their DB's are just guys that they pick out of the crowd before the game and suit them up.

Yes, they are prone to getting burned (see Cowboys and Pats games).

That is what did them in vs the Ravens last year. Apparently they did not fix it.

It was the Titans.

Ed Zachary.

Any thought that a team from Tennessee might not do well in the cold? Or maybe that a team which sucks in general might not do well in the cold?

I wonder how much cold (and wet) weather will play into for the super bowl this year in New Jersey.

WOW, first Peyton cant play in cold weather games, yesterday in Denver 18 degrees and Won, now its cold weather and playoff games.....

December 9, 2013  12:26 PM ET

It will be interesting how many empty seas will be at Super Bowl. I ca;t see a bunch of corporate VPs that will sit in stands in the cold weather. I doubt if they have enough luxuary suites for all corporate VPs. If weather like this week happens super bowl weekend, and chunks of empty seats or an ice storm which causes a power outage. If this happens Goodell and his greed trying to capitalize on big NY market could end up with egg on his face.

You missed "it wasn't cold enough"

I'm a huge fan of Manning's but the reason why people were talking of his cold weather performance was because there was some statistical basis for it. Perhaps he's going to change that.
