07:25 AM ET 12.10 | A workhorse in terms of generating social media headlines lately, Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson may not be able to carry that into the weekend. [Peterson] will not need surgery on his sprained right foot, but is unlikely to play on Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles, according to a person with knowledge of the situation. Peterson sustained a mid-foot sprain in the second quarter on Sunday against the Baltimore Ravens. ... X-rays were negative on Peterson's foot, a MRI showed no structural damage or risk of a Lisfranc injury, and Peterson said on Monday afternoon he planned to play Sunday. But he was still scheduled to undergo a CT scan on his foot, and the Vikings planned to send the results of Peterson's medical exams to a foot specialist.

Emmitt's numbers are downright pedestrian compared to AP's on a year over year basis.

He already surpassed by far Emmit's number of baby mamas.

Emmitt never had gawky numbers, he was just very consistent, and very healthy behind a great o-line....speaking of which I bet Romo found himself dreaming of playing behind that line and with that defense last night in his sleep!

Sit him the rest of the year, save some wear and tear on him and it might improve your draft pick status.

Paging Dr. Ryan. Paging Dr. Ryan.

Shut him down for the remainder of the season.

While I can understand sitting a guy for a week, between the injuries, healthy scratches and "sit the star so he doesn't get hurt," too many teams are giving up too soon. The fans don't want to watch backups stink the place up.

Vikings fans gave up awhile back......

Ya he doesn't give two shakes about if the Vikings win, he just wants to play for himself and the rushing title. Then he plans to visit all his kids and learn their names and faces.

In fairness to the Vikings, all of their quarterbacks are backups.

And you don't pay all that money just to sit a guy. You owe your fans something-your best. Unless you are discounting ticket prices at seasons end.

Except for the part where he led the league in rushing touchdowns and rushing yards in multiple seasons.
