07:36 AM ET 12.10 | Since Alabama's regular season ended, Nick Saban hasn't exactly been resting. [Saban] has been pounding the pavement since the Crimson Tide's regular season ended two weeks ago, visiting recruits at their schools and in their homes as he closes in on another top-ranked recruiting class. Saban's latest recruiting road trip came on Monday when he visited five-star Elizabethtown, Kentucky defensive tackle Matt Elam. Elam, a 6-foot-6, 350-pound nose guard is rated the nation's No. 2 defensive tackle prospect according to 247Sports and has been the focus of an intense recruiting battle between Alabama, the home-state Kentucky Wildcats and Notre Dame. Elam is expected to take his much-anticipated official visit to Kentucky this week as the Wildcats attempt to keep the elite star in-state.

And take him to TU when he goes?

December 10, 2013  07:51 AM ET

It's like having a 12th man on the field. Elam will easily fill both sides of 'A' gap.

He'll need a bigger helicopter ...

December 10, 2013  08:16 AM ET

Well if it comes down to those three, then he's a Bama lock.

Change the r to an a and it will happen.

December 10, 2013  09:19 AM ET

Don't know why not .......Bama pays better.

December 10, 2013  09:22 AM ET

UK should let him play BBall as well...

That way he can be under that benefit package

December 10, 2013  09:34 AM ET

If he doesn't find a QB, then Alabama will be a good team, but not the leader of the pack.

We did just fine with an "also-ran" named Greg McElroy. We'll find someone at least as good as him.

December 10, 2013  09:47 AM ET

He certainly is recruiting hard for a team he is leaving.

I'd probably be bitter, too, if I was a Cinci Bears fan.

Yeah, but the competition have even better and they are around a few years. We shall see, but after all the recent glory at Alabama 10-2, 9-3 is going to seem like failure. Which it isn't, but we shall see.

They've had some in the past that just needed to turn and hand it off.

True, but those types of games are rare now.40 and 50 point games do not even surprise one anymore and 30+ is the new norm.

The run they have had is remarkable, but everything changes.

If they continue to get the pick of the litter on the Oline and Dline, it can continue IMHO.

Elam will be a Vol.
