Cubs feud: Milo may toast Caray
Milo has mellowed ??? after all these years. Harry Caray will be the object of a worldwide toast Thursday night as millions observe the 10th anniversary of his passing. And for the first time, longtime antagonist Milo Hamilton just might offer a private toast to his former broadcast partner. Hamilton, 80, for decades resented the fan and media attention directed toward Caray, who was hired as the successor to Jack Brickhouse in 1982. At the conclusion of the '81 season, Brickhouse announced on WGN-TV that Hamilton would succeed him as the play-by-play voice of the Cubs. That was before Tribune Co. stepped in to buy the Cubs and hired Caray away from the White Sox. In his book released two years ago, Hamilton referred to Caray as "a miserable human being," and the two had a number of tiffs off the air when they worked together.

Harry was fun. He was the only reason to watch the Cubs for many years on WGN. You never knew what he was going to say and that is what made it worthwhile. Drunken fans, day game at Wrigley and Harry gave us all a great alternatitive to soap operas on TV for many years. For those of you who enjoy Will Ferell's Harry act, you ain't seeen nothin' until you check out John Campanera. He did an act on one of the first ESPY shows that is downright hilarious. Let's all raise a glass to Harry!

Harry Caray was the kind of colorful character that sports needs more of. He was part of the the Wrigley Field experience that I remembered as a kid - Day games (No Lights!), the ivy walls, the Bleacher Bums, and Harry's famous 7th Inning Stretch when he'd almost fall out of the broadcast booth singing "Take me out to the Ballgame" (At Wrigley fans would constantly buy beer for Harry and have it sent to the booth. By the 7th Inning, he could get a little tipsy.)
He may not have been the best play by play man in the League, but he was a lot of fun.

Somebody must be paying Milo a lot of money to say anything nice about that senile old fart. Milo is a pro, but Caray was like the grandpa who had a stroke or something and would poop himself and not bother to clean himself up.

Harry Caray: Yes! Hey! Now Ken we all know thta the moon is not made of green cheese.
Dr. Ken Waller: Yes! That's true Harry.
Harry Caray: But what if it were made of barbeque spare ribs would you eat it then?
Happy Birthday Harry!

Sorry eyes, fans buying Harry beer occurred at old Comiskey during the 70's when his broadcast booth was located in the outfield, not at Wrigley. The last row of seats was no more than 5' below his window, a fan standing on his seat could easily reach Harry. When they renovated Comiskey in the early 80's they moved the booth behind home plate, ending the tradition.

Having worked at a radio station that was a Cubs affiliate, I spent many an afternoon listening to Harry. Didn't realize it has been 10 years. While his broadcasting may have been failing in his later years, he was as much a Cubbie as Ryne Sandberg and deservedly so. "A one, a two, a three..."

"Millions" to observe the 10th anniversary of Harry Carey's death? I think someone's overstating someone else's importance. Get a clue, Chicago Tribune.

When Harry was doing the White Sox games he was great. He knew the game and was brutally honest. His years with the Cubs was not even the same guy to me.
Milo Hamilton acted like a bitter **** because he was a boring guy that no one here really liked.
You had to hear this loser try to do DePaul basketball games with his stupid "Holy Toledo" whine ever 10 seconds. Pure torture. He was forgotten in Chicago as soon as he left.

Harry was a class act I miss every day. While everyone thought he drank while he was working he never had a lick of any alchohol during the game. He put rootbeer in the bud cup and sipped on it as he also never went to the bathroom during a game either. He waited until after the game to get plastered. Its all in steves stones book about harry. God Bless ya harry we miss ya Old Buddy!
