Big Ben takes a shot at reporters

07:27 AM ET 12.11 | Week 14 isn't always kind to NFL teams, and, as he slipped to 5-8, quarterback Ben Roethlisberger's postseason hopes have faded. A loss that all but eliminated the Pittsburgh Steelers from playoff contention isn't all that has [Roethlisberger] frustrated. Roethlisberger also is annoyed at the perception that he took a swipe at his offensive coordinator when he told reporters to ask Todd Haley why the Steelers didn't run the ball more in the second half of Sunday's 22-20 loss to the Miami Dolphins. "It's unbelievable," Roethlisberger said during his weekly radio show on 93.7 The Fan. "It gets blown up and it's by reporters that come in there and ask the dumbest questions after a game, and it makes it ridiculous when they only take part of your answer. It was taken way out of context."

IMO, He has always been an over-rated QB.

Mickey..he still has a very good point about reporters asking the dumbest questions and many times twisting the answers.

I agree 100% with that statement....

I would think that dumb questions would be right up Roethlisberger's alley.

Roethlisberger is just irritated that he's made to look like the bad guy. That's just part of the reporting game, unless you want to respond like Belichick.

I think everyone is a little fed up with the state of journalism in sports, and it's getting worse.

December 11, 2013  08:54 AM ET

more media created controversy where none exists

December 11, 2013  09:06 AM ET

I miss the days where you could idolize a sports figure without knowing all the crap that went on in their private lives.......oh to be ignorant again!

Just watch ESPN. Enough said.

If no controversy exists the vultures will just create some

Agreed. A prime example was that interview with Winston after his game Saturday. Ask him questions about the game, not the other crap. Reporter must have thought she was doing a 60 Minutes segment. It was ridiculous and he was right to walk away.

Maybe he'd rather have reporters ask about his dating and impregnating underage girls?

December 11, 2013  10:49 AM ET

No matter what Big Ben says publicly, he & Haley do not get along. Haley needs to go, immediately if not sooner.

December 11, 2013  11:08 AM ET

The Steelers are eroding into nothing......time to ax some coach's begining with Tomlin and then Haley to get the ship back up right.

December 11, 2013  11:25 AM ET

There was a similar headline in the Pittsburgh papers 40 years ago.........

Ernie Holmes takes a shot at Police helicopter

That's the real takeaway from all of this. No amount of lipstick improves this pig.

True, he wasn't really that good in AZ or KC either.

I don't buy that they don't get along. They are both professionals paid a lot of money to get along. What is painfully obvious is Haley's offense and play calling stink. I agree that Haley needs to go after the season is over.
