Bryant's return courts chaos

07:38 AM ET 12.11 | Kobe Bryant is back, which isn't to say there's a smooth transition happening for the Lakers, who lost Tuesday despite his 20 points and relatively aggressive game. The Lakers had found something that worked well enough to win six of their previous eight games. They spread the floor and fired in 3-pointers. They had roles and rotations. As of Sunday, they had to change. Kobe Bryant's presence is too large for him to quietly slip in the room and take a seat in the back row. Coach Mike D'Antoni is trying to figure out which lineups work best around Kobe. In an extreme example of the shuffling, Robert Sacre went from starting in Sacramento on Friday to sitting with a DNP-Coach's Decision by his name in the box score Tuesday. D'Antoni is throwing combinations that have never played together in NBA games before.

Kobe brought up a good point when he said he didnt want to stick around in the lg when his career is starting to a fade away.. Perhaps the time has come Mr. Bryant?

At least Kobe is getting better each game and is almost back to his old self. That's great for the Kobe fanatics. Now for the Lakers, they're back to standing around and watch Kobe play. Of course it's the scrubs and Dumbtonie's fault. Hey, the players are only adjusting to Kobe. It's almost time to point fingers again. They'll play OKC next... smh and lol

And don't forget that the story is right on the money! Only blinders will not agree to the story because it's so true.

Did Xavier Henry play?

December 11, 2013  09:06 AM ET

when you add a player with the ability of Kobe to any team 20 games in, it will take time to adjust.

i will wait to make my analysis after about 10 games with Kobe, not 2....

Clearly, I'm not an NBA coach....or am I?
But....how hard can it be to put 4 other guys around Kobe that can play well with him?

He is good and getting better. I don't know about the team. The players and Dumbtonie will have to adjust to him...

Like I've always said without Kobe Lakers are a .500 win that will get knocked out in the first round. With Kobe they are lottery bound!

What Lakers should have done was

- amnesty Kobe
- Fire D'Antoni
- Resign Howard
- Get another star this coming summer

But now it's too late. The franchise will be on a down spiral for a very long time.

1. you need a dominate big man with the same or more bravado than Kobe.......not one in the nba right now
2. you need a defensive stopper to guard other teams #1 like MWP or Ariza somewhat did.....they don't have one
3. you need someone that can shoot you out of trouble if Kobe and dominate big man aren't making it happen that night, ala Robert Horry.....they got Nick Young
4. you need some doufus who can stand on the court wide open all the time and not care that the ball ever gets thrown to him.....which they have a bunch of.....

Find these 4 and you got yourself a Kobe team.....imo

They won't be .500 this year.
