Rivers 'absolutely' wanted KG and Pierce in L.A.

07:36 AM ET 12.11 | The dream was there, and Doc Rivers had it all planned. Rivers would head West, to coach the Los Angeles Clippers. Kevin Garnett would join him, in a trade that skated on the edge of NBA legality. Paul Pierce would eventually follow them. ... Rivers would get a roster steeped in young talent, with Chris Paul, Blake Griffin and the hope of another title run. Garnett and Pierce would come along to aid the transition, to reinforce the coach's message, to govern the locker room and establish the proper culture. "He wanted them, absolutely," said a person who knows Rivers well. The vision was shattered when commissioner David Stern made it clear -- publicly, and to the teams -- that any attempt to package Garnett and Rivers would be disallowed.

Well Doc i think you lucked out....Bc it looks like both of them are pretty much D-O-N-E!!!!!

It was really nice Doc when it lasted, seeing both KG and Paul play and bring a NBA championship back to Beantown. If we hadnt lost Perk in that game 6 against the Lakers it would of been 2 NBA titles and if Kg hadnt went down the year when we took the eastern conference champs to a game 7 it would of been 3 NBA titles. But it is what it is. All good things come to an end

These stories keep coming back because Doc can't let go of the past. Time for you to move on Doc and concentrate w/ your Clippers!

I don't trust this Rivers dude. I'm sure he knew they were done so he made sure he didn't end up with them again... in a very polite way.

Garnet's supposed to be Brooklyn's decker but now he plays like Brooklyn Decker!

the clippers need an all star caliber small forward.
Now they signed Capt. Jax, who isn't the Jax from the 2003 spurs but still can put up numbers, though he is streaky.
Clippers need a Melo/Gay/Granger type player.
clippers however are in cap hell for the next 2 years so how they would get it done is beyond me.

LA Must Not Be The Place For You, Bro.

They would not have made a difference, look at the Brooklyn team. A couple of old guys holding on to the pay check and the little gas that's in the tank.

And if the Lakers would have been healthy, you'd have zero championships.

I wholeheartedly agree 100%. To this day, I still think about those 2 years and what could have been. Yes I know, I can't let go of the past :P

Did you not read that bit about Perkins being injured? Being healthy works both ways, not just to support one-sided Lakers arguments.
