07:28 AM ET 12.12 | With Kobe Bryant's re-upping, does that increase the chances Pau Gasol will return to Los Angeles? While the Grizzlies are a great financial unknown and team unknown, as well, with a pending Zach Randolph decision whether to pick up his $16.5-million option for next season or pass that up in hopes of his stated desire to get a longer deal to stay, it does have the obvious emotional appeal for Gasol: the presence of brother Marc Gasol. Plus, Memphis was Pau's first NBA home, for 6 1/2 years before the trade to the Lakers. ... "It's appealing," Pau Gasol told NBA.com. "One of the best centers in the NBA, one of the best interior players, is my brother. There's a lot of attractive factors there. But who knows if that's even a possibility or if that will ever happen."

Gasol has lost a step, he's not consistent anymore with some nights 14 or 20 points and then the next night 2 or 4 points. He has never been a physical type of player and when playing against physical, atheletic players (DeAndre Jordan, Demarcus Cousin) this guy appears soft as tissue paper. The Lakers may consider letting him walk.

It's time for Pau to move on from the Lakers. He can still join Memphis even w/ Zach still w/ the team. He'll need to accept whatever offer Memphis gives him. He could back up Zach or his brother.

Thanks And Best Wishes, Bro.

Pau is the "smartest player in the NBA" per a certain Black Mamba.

Memphis is more stuck with Randolph for at least another season so unless they trade him I doubt this happens. The Gasol brothers would be a formidable tandem to deal with though. If Memphis is out of the playoff picture I can see them dumping Randolph to try and make this a possibility.

The Lakers will let Pau walk you can bet on that. They already tried to trade him plus they have cheaper options who can get his minutes. Possible teams Houston, Atlanta, Boston and if Zack doesn't pick up his extra year.

That's a big "if" No way Zach doesn't pick up his option. He'll never see that kind of money again.

Iggy opted out and got a longer deal. At a slight pay decrease.

But, I doubt Randolph turns it down.

But if I'm the Lakers, I'd try to swap Zach for Pau anyway. There is nobody better that they could sign this summer except for Melo.* please don't say Lebron because he's not coming *Might as well hunker down for the 2015 free agent class.

I think it happens. Ranolph is the kind of hard nosed guy Kobe wants in the foxhole with him.

Keep it real, bro.

15 games (out of 21) where he's had double figures in points. And he's still averaging nearly 10rpg.

Memphis would be Gasolid in the middle

until they start fighting over touches. Randolph likes the ball in his hands and has a big enough ego to try and challenge Kobe in regards to sharing the rock. I don't see it working out for the lone season Randolph would be a Laker...

I was going to say the exact thing. He may opt out to secure a 3yr 10-12 million type deal or a 2yr deal 24 mill. Depends on how he wants to play it

QUOTE(#17):

he will get more than west-he is younger

Not the only factor, but I think he will get about the same money if teams are looking to pay a PF that kind of money. West is the same age but has played in less NBA games less seasons 13th season for Zbo 11th for West and less minutes played. I don't see him getting more than West as most teams are not giving up 12million for a 32+ player unless he is the final piece.

Kobe's dominant days are way behind. The sooner Lakers front office accept that and try to move in a different direction, the better the future of the franchise. You know things are really bad when a player a Gasol's caliber sees greener pastures elsewhere.

Hello Laker fans... welcome to Knicks territory.

I love Gasol and would love to see him retire in Lakerland BUT, I think it would be better for him to actually go play with his brother than stay in LA. Dumby is not his coach (even though I think this is his last season anyway) and Gasol has been declining big time.
He would be appreciated way more in Memphis, make more money than what the Lakers might offer him and I think alongside his brother he would thrive and play very solid.
