Boras pretending there's a market for Drew?

07:33 AM ET 12.12 | History shows that Scott Boras can create a market for nearly any client. So, when the power agent [on Wednesday] told a throng of reporters that he has "numerous options" for free agent shortstop Stephen Drew to sign a multi-year contract, it would be foolish not to believe him. Right now, though, it's difficult to see. ... [But there was Boras] literally scoffing at the suggestion that Drew may have to settle for -- gasp! -- another one-year deal. "No, that's not a problem," Boras said of an idea that he believes is straight out of Fantasyland. "Obviously, there are a variety of teams that want a shortstop of his defensive acumen." o a certain extent, Boras is right. The Red Sox, and manager John Farrell, in particular, have been candid about their desire to retain Drew.

Apparently he's trying to conjure up markets that don't even exist as well. He's suggesting MLB should be back in Montreal.

Got to hand it to him. He squeezes every rock for his clients.

That picture proves that Boras and Loria are the same person.

I was going to say that they apparently shop at the same clothing store.

On FN, I say let the most ridiculous assertions fly!!

He might have to settle for the face saving two year contract in which the team holds a low dollar buy out option.

Would love for him to stay with the Sox but if someone offers stupid money (see Ells) I will wish him well in his new club.

They both have frequent buyer cards at Ocean State Job Lots.

I know I've never seen the two of them in the same place at the same time.

Wouldn't that cause a black hole or a direct portal to Hell to form?

Drew should end up back in Beantown, especially since signing him would cost a team a draft pick.

I think you're right. And it would swallow everthing in it's path. Except Tommy Lasorda.

Agree. I think the draft pick is the fly in the ointment that is keeping teams from pursuing Drew.

Perhaps Loria and Borass are Twin brothers

December 12, 2013  03:53 PM ET

I'm Sure there are a lot of teams wanting to sign Drew,(Have glove will travel, what's a bat)to a multi year 2 figure mil. deal. Yeah, right. Boras ought to buy his own team, with all of the super stars that he handles his team could be the next dynasty.

December 12, 2013  04:10 PM ET

Apparently the Red Sox like him more than any other team.

I'd like to see him come back! He did a nice job last year, although I would be worried about a regression after the contract year.

If Boras' lips are moving it's a high probability he is spinning on behalf of a client, truth is not a consideration.
Drew is a classic good field/no hit SS. The Sox would like him back but won't cry if he leaves and they pick up an extra draft choice.
Any news about what the Sox are offering him?
