07:38 AM ET 12.12 | Back in September, the NHL hit Canucks forward Zack Kassian with an eight-game suspension for a preseason high stick that shattered the jaw of Sam Gagner. [Friday's] date at Rogers Arena (6 p.m., CBC, Team 1040) will be the Oilers' first opportunity to send Kassian a message, if they feel one is necessary. ... [Said Kassian:] "Who knows? Maybe they will. Maybe they won't. It's the game within the game. Our main focus is to get two points and stay hot at home. "Obviously I'm not too worried about someone coming after me. I have no problem standing up for myself. If they want to get some type of revenge, the door is open. Go ahead." Kassian conceded he was careless with his stick, swinging it wildly behind him and striking Gagner in the face as he slammed awkwardly into the boards.

Could have been a lot worse for Gagner like Hossa on Bryan Berard a few years ago. Berard was a stud that never came back to the same level. Some of these guys (Kassian) don't get it, they have a weapon in their hands.

He'll get what's coming to him, one way or another.

He already did by getting an 8 game suspension. It's over. Move on. Edmonton needs points more than they need to "teach Kassian a lesson" he won't learn anyway.

Not advocating the Oilers do anything with or to Kassian. As you say, that's over.

That being said, guys like that ultimately pay a price - kind of a karma thing.

Exactly.

And with the back and forth is why things just get worse, and the game is getting harder to watch.

Naaah. Somebody needs to take a run at him and get themselves suspended for 8 games. That would teach him.

I am pretty da_n sure the IQ level of the hockey threads is light years ahead of the other sports.

Which may be kind of ironic.

Nice proverb!

Kassian deserved 8 games just for that 'stache.

Who shouldn't by proud is Mike Gillis for trading Cody Hodgson for this lump. He has three times the points playing on the worst team in the NHL. Nice Burkie ya pulled there Gillis.

Zack Kassian = Dumb arse.
Zach Kassian < John Scott

Why is this brick-head even in the NHL? Tells you how desperate Gillis is to appear to be providing protection to the sisters.
