07:41 AM ET 12.12 | From Mike Green's perspective, which has included a pretty good seat for Alex Ovechkin's career, the Caps forward is "shooting the puck the best I've ever seen him shoot it," which certainly is saying something. If he continues to score at such a stunning rate, it's not out of the realm of possibility that he could join one of the NHL's most elite and revered clubs by scoring 50 goals in 50 games. ... Capitals Coach Adam Oates was teammates with the last player to accomplish the official achievement. ... Can Ovechkin find a way to join that elite company? "I think he has the capability of doing it, with the guys he plays with, the minutes and the [power play]," Oates said, acknowledging that today's NHL doesn't lead to as significant offensive production as it did during his career. "I think it's harder now, no question."

Not really. I never dismissed his talent.

Ovie had a fantastic game against Tampa the other night and it was great to watch. But, if the Caps are already turning the season into counting Ovie's goals, I sense another one and out playoff run on the horizon

The Washington Capitals web page lists him as having 26 goals, 9 assists and he is a minus 10. I think the numbers speak for themselves.

Without that 4 goal night he's at 22 in 29. Can't see it.Still scoring like freakin crazy.

still dont understand how teams forget about him camped out in the face-off dot.

Amazing how many teams still cant identify him as the "shooter" on the PP

.....a couple more hat tricks or multiple goal games, and it's not undoable.

In their next ten games, Caps play the Flyers twice, Canes twice, Devils, Panthers, Rangers, Sabres, Sens...

Yeah he might hit 60 in 50 against those defences.

Speaking of defenses I laughed my *** off as your Leafs played one of their better defensive games of the year. I wonder if that will be brought up at a certain contract negotiation? :o)

An example of what you can find NYR.

QUOTE(#12):

I said that to my friends walking into the arena, I said it repeatedly as Rielly and Gardiner were one of the better pairings i've seen all season, I said it every time Franson was on the ice.

I didn't get a chance to say it when the Leafs turned the puck over, because it surprisingly didn't happen too much last night.

Can't wait to see how St. Louis goes.

Would you like a prediction? :-0

After watching the Hawks play I predict they have a chance to go back to back, a first since the great Wings teams. Pardon the interruption:)

would love to see another 50-50 player...but I don't think that guy is in the league yet. If anyone can do it I would pick Stamkos...

You're right. Talent has little to do with other desirable qualities.

Like the Leafs (and Mrs. Pinch) are that much better.

If by they you mean the Blues then you're correct.
