04:02 PM ET 12.13 | We have been anxiously awaiting word on the future of UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre and we finally received information Friday afternoon, when UFC President Dana White and the welterweight champion teamed up for a special media conference call. The conference call was set to provide answers to the questions that everyone has been seeking since St-Pierre said he would like time away from the sport after his controversial split-decision win over Johny Hendricks at UFC 167. St-Pierre opened up the call and wasted no time announcing that he will be taking time away from the sport. Out of respect to the competitors in the 170-pound division, St-Pierre will be vacating his title. There was no timetable given for St-Pierre's return, but he did announce that he will be stepping away from the sport indefinitely.
