USC assistants coaching for their jobs?

09:25 AM ET 12.14 | Trojans players endured a tumultuous season: the firing of coach Lane Kiffin, the emotional departure of interim coach Ed Orgeron and the arrival of new Coach Steve Sarkisian. USC assistants also were caught in the crossfire. Now, with most coaches facing the loss of their jobs, they are charged with preparing the Trojans for the Dec. 21 Las Vegas Bowl against Fresno State. Sarkisian, who will not coach the bowl game, has announced that receivers coach Tee Martin will remain with the staff next season. But other assistants and graduate assistant coaches have been given no guarantees, and Sarkisian has informed several they will not be back. "These are good football coaches," Sarkisian said. "Sometimes it doesn't work out because of circumstances."

Aren't they all?

pretty much. Unless you are Bobby Bowden or Mack Brown the senior years.

He'd be wise to bring a good part of his UDub staff with him, especially on the D-side of things. That would probably mean curtains for Clancy. (Wonder how Shaq Thompson will feel when Lupoi goes.)

He's already hired 3 of them. One more, and possibly two to follow,

Yep and the d-backs coach brought a recruit with him. Too bad Steve can't bring Shaq. He is becoming a good LB.

Yep. Now we just need a couple more OL, some DB and LB help and we should finish with a pretty damn good class.

Do you think he's holding off firing coaches until he has time to lock down recruits they were involved with?

More like a completely new football team. Keep Cravens, though. I wonder if these Orgeron fans will care about the bowl or just quit on the team because it's just the Vegas bowl and who cares if Fresno St. has a winning record vs. USC, "we can even the series next year". I vote quit.

Not really. If a kid wants to follow a coach, he has plenty of time. Feb is a long ways away, and we need to get our coaches settled.

Understood; didn't mean waiting to Feb. but just to give him time to personally contact each recruit, even visit the key personnel.
