09:29 AM ET 12.15 | Nick Saban, who agreed to a long-term extension Friday to remain the coach at Alabama, said Saturday that he never had any intentions of going to Texas. Saban said his commitment has and will continue to be to Alabama and that the speculation about potentially replacing his friend, Mack Brown, at Texas was unfair to everybody involved. "The way this sort of got spun, it was a little bit more like, 'OK, he got a new contract at Alabama, so he's going to stay at Alabama instead of going to Texas,'" Saban told ESPN.com on Saturday. "I never considered going to Texas. That wasn't even a conversation."

If you believe that statement you also believe he bought a house in Austin.

So, the University of Alabama just threw another $2 million at football when they didn't need to? Jeez what a bunch of lemmings.

You got it. He had all fall to make this statement. Anyone who believes a thing he says about it all now has crossed over the borderline of stupid.

Ask him why he never said this stuff a few months ago....

And after a loss....

you would have thought they would have given him the 2/3 million after last year

I think it was very considerate of the University of Alabama Board of Regents to let the University of Texas Board of Regents know exactly how much to offer their new head football coach.

This is lawyer talk. He said he never considered going to Texas, not he was never leaving Alabama. That extension kept him from possibly jumping to the NFL. Teans, Titans, possibly Redskins, ect. will be looking for a head coach and now Saban out of the mix.

Saban goes recruiting, ESPN spins the drama and the lemmings throw raises at him. It reminds me of a quote from Blazing Saddles:

"Can't you see that's the last act of a desperate man?"

I thought I read that Sabans contract has no buyout... oh ohhhhhhhhhh

December 15, 2013  10:28 AM ET

Wow. Alabama can never win with you folks. If he had left you would have been all over this place talking about what a craphole it is and no one wanted to coach there.

31 is too high. No one wants to coach at looserville! We'll be lucky to snag Pellini or Kiffin. Is John L. Smith available? Jim Tressell would look GQ in a burnt orange sweater vest.

31 works just fine.

I think Saban just told Sexton to call and see if Texas is still interested.
