10:08 AM ET 12.15 | Jay Cutler/Josh McCown is a quarterback "controversy" that has solidified the Bears??? locker room instead of dividing it. No matter what anybody thinks of Cutler or McCown, everyone knows Cutler is the No. 1 and McCown the No. 2. "It's two real good quarterbacks," Pat Mannelly said. "But we know who the starter is." With the Bears fighting for a playoff spot, there's no room for any discord in the locker room. "You need to have a solid guy at that spot," offensive tackle/tight end Eben Britton said. "That's one of those spots you can't have flip-flopping. You can't have indecisiveness. It's got to be a rock-solid position for a team. ... We're really fortunate to have a rock-solid guy in Jay."

Lie Much, Bros?

Management has requested Jay interview realtors privately.

Now ask them how many of them will redo their contracts and take a paycut when Cutler goes FA.

December 15, 2013  10:27 AM ET

Lucky they only have to fight the Lions for a playoff spot.

December 15, 2013  10:34 AM ET

Me thinks Cutler will have a short leash.

December 15, 2013  10:37 AM ET

Why do I feel The Bears are making a mistake, they should rest Cutler one more week!

December 15, 2013  10:56 AM ET

If they're going to start Cutler, it might as well be against the Browns. Let him knock the rust off before playing the Eagles next week.

December 15, 2013  10:58 AM ET

Jay, rock solid? Uhhhhhhhhh, no.

December 15, 2013  11:42 AM ET

No controversy here. Trestman said from the outset that the #1 slot was Cutler's when he was well-enough to play.

It's a smart play for a new coach: he's letting the starters know they can play their arses off, and they don't have to worry about getting penalized if they have to miss a few games due to injury. I look at it as a confidence builder for the players.

Yeah.

But, if McCown walks...they may be forced to franchise Cutler for one season and draft a QB to eventually replace him.

Pretty much.

I read that Bears-Eagles is getting flexed to Sunday night. That should be a great game.

That's if they let McCown go...

I saw that (and commented on it).

Time will tell.

With the way Philadelphia's secondary played today... I don't think it will matter who's at QB... Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffery are going to have huge games.
