Method behind Brian Burke's wild hair?

10:52 AM ET 12.15 | His hair was not in disarray because Brian Burke chose not to brush it or bother to get it trimmed. It was all over the place -- a popular subject on radio and Twitter -- because that was the image Burke wanted to portray. Burke is nothing if not prepared. He often works out his press conferences lines prior to having his press conferences. He writes down catch-phrases and memorizes them. Like an actor, he chooses his motivation, sets the mood and then determines what look he will display to the public he so often owns. The look at the firing of GM Jay Feaster and assistant GM John Weisbrod in Calgary was that of a man who had rolled up his sleeves, a touch wild-eyed, having slept little and who hadn't bothered to groom his lengthy mop. It was all part of a way of demonstrating how much he had put in to the decision to take over the Flames in earnest.

There's bound to be a presser on this topic...

And - I have faith Canuck will find it.

Not the worst joke The Us or the Nat Ho League have played on Canarduckia - but definitely a low-blow 'wave'.

So, we are now informed that Burke is an actor who portrays different characters depending on the message being conveyed. This character appears to be Drunk Uncle. Two thumbs up for creativity.

Great matinee yesterday, esp. benn and seguins line

Hiring Big-Boy Burkie was just a fecal attempt to buy some better officiating, and to tie the can to the rest of the front office without having to do it themsel-fish. Operative words are short-term - almost anyone would be better than Joey Newfoundyck - Mr Gilmore anyone?

Somehow, I knew you'd have a keen appreciation of that particular debacle.

"The look at the firing of GM ... and assistant GM ... was that of a man ...... a touch wild-eyed, having slept little and who hadn't bothered to groom his lengthy mop...."

The above paragraph is wrong. It should've read:

"Burke's look at the firing of GM ... and assistant GM ... was that of a wild-eyed man with a terrible hangover, who slept a little the night before hugging his whiskey bottle to his bosom. And, when he woke up he didn't know who he was or where he was. It didn't even occur to him to try and groom his lengthy mop...." <fixed>

I would've never guessed his hair would become all the envy.
I guessed it was his drinking ability.
