Flyers' Couturier destined for stardom

07:45 AM ET 12.16 | Veteran forward Danny Briere thought his first game back in Philadelphia since the Flyers bought him out might be weird. Even though he played the Flyers once, earlier in the season, it was also a strange feeling to play against his former teammates. Especially his old tenant. For the past two years he had Sean Couturier living with him and his three sons in Haddonfield. Now Couturier has his own place in downtown Philly and has taken big steps in his still-early career. "It's just a matter of time before he becomes a dominant force in the NHL," Briere said. "He's got everything to be one of the top players. It's only a matter of time." At this rate, it might be sooner rather than later. Couturier has five goals and 15 points in 32 games this season while centering the checking line.

He's young. He has some time to prove it.

The kid impresses me. He is good and it looks like he is steadily improving.

Time for a Couturier-Phaneuf trade, methinks.

This is true and with Pronger gone Philly needs a large pylon.

5 goals, huh. Maybe he meant later rather than sooner.

Six goals. He's 21, usually if you're going to be star, flashes appear.

A well-dressed one, though. What a wardrobe.

This is true. I doubt he shops at Mark's Work Wearhouse.

Greeeeeat. All we need now is another story about the Flyers having the best player in the game. Just waiting for Berube to mimic Laviolette.

Sooner or later, someone running the Flyers will have to accept they have team of average players with a couple of above average players. Good enough for exactly where they are - the middle of the pack in their division.
