05:38 PM ET 12.16 | When the Buffalo Bills took the field on Sunday afternoon and ended the Jacksonville Jaguars' three-game winning streak, Bills wide receiver Stevie Johnson was playing with a heavy heart. Bills head coach Doug Marrone had to deliver some bad news to Johnson on Saturday, after being informed that Johnson's mother died unexpectedly in California. Johnson had to weigh the news and determine if he would suit up on Sunday or not, but he ultimately decided that his mother would have wanted him to go out there and help his team. Johnson will head to California this week, where he will begin to deal with his big loss.

For a lot of these guys I suspect being on the field is therapeutic and form of immediate comfort.

Sorry, but I wouldn't have done it that way. Without Mom, he isn't on the field... RIP Ms Brown...
