07:37 AM ET 12.17 | Now that Major League Baseball and Japan's Nippon Professional Baseball have agreed on a new posting system, the wait to see if star pitcher Masahiro Tanaka will be made available can begin in earnest. The team experiencing the most pins and needles? Probably the Yankees. Tanaka is a primary pinstriped target, but it's unclear whether Tanaka's team, the Rakuten Golden Eagles, will post the ace. Tanaka could be the Yankees' best bet to add a top-of-the-market starter this winter -- sources say the team won't pursue free-agent pitchers such as Matt Garza, Ubaldo Jimenez or Ervin Santana. ... Yankees GM Brian Cashman wouldn't comment on Tanaka or talk specifically about starting pitchers. But he acknowledged he's working on multiple facets of his team. "Bullpen, starter, infield, all of it."

Picturing Cashman with all his fingers and toes plugging holes in a **** and an on coming tsunami.

At least he recognizes there are holes.

Also brings to mind the Apollo 13 reference with all the alarms going off - "so what do we have that's good?". Sadly, for the Yankees, the answer is not much.

Can't have more than one Japanese player on a team due to the amounts of radiation poisoning.

QUOTE(#13):

I am amused at all the folks who are sure the Yankees are doomed. People have been saying it for the last ten years or so. I'd love it if it were true, but the fact is, they've got a lot more eggs than any other team.

But what kind of sides do they have? Grits? Hash browns? Hash?

Yeah, all of that, and for the White Sox fans in the crowd, they offer a side of crystal meth and a plastic bottle of Kamchatka vodka.

Actually, we prefer Blue Ice vodka.
