LSU's bowl ticket troubles

07:34 AM ET 12.18 | Less than three weeks out, it's a good thing a program's ticket sales aren't an indicator of bowl success. Iowa is outpacing LSU in early ticket sales for the Outback Bowl. LSU has sold 6,000 of its allotted 12,000 tickets, said Brian Broussard, director of ticket operations at LSU. Iowa has sold more than 10,000 of its 11,500 allotment, said Pam Finke, Iowa's director of ticket operations. No. 14 LSU (9-3, 5-3 Southeastern Conference) meets Iowa (8-4, 5-3 Big Ten) in the game Jan. 1 in Tampa, Fla. Finke expected that the Hawkeyes would be within 1,000 tickets of selling out their allotment by Tuesday. Iowa had sold about 10,250 by Monday afternoon. The school will request more tickets if the demand is high enough, she said. Broussard admitted that LSU's ticket sales have been slower than expected.

Nice to know the B1G tops the SEC in something, at least.

Especially this year Harley. January showed up in November and it has been unrelenting. Drove home in a white out from Charleston, WV to C-bus last night and it was not even forecasted.

Maybe we will luck out and get July in January.

Except for my family, I don't miss this time of year in C-bus, BB.

Yeah, but to be fair, most people are glad to have an excuse to get out of Iowa. For the other team's fans, it's just trading swamps.

FL has better views from the Tampa swamps, but LA has better vittles.

Shouldn't be long now.

Iowa is elated to go to a Florida bowl and get out of the cold for a while, but the Tiger fans are use to going bowling every and it looks like it is more important for the Hawkeye fans to attend with no championship riding on the out come.

I have said this in another post about these bowl games. Same games, same opponents, same places year after year after year after year. They have become boring and stale. We have already seen these games last year and the year before and five years ago and ten years ago.

The bowls need a major change. They have been, for a lot of teams, just a consolation prize. Here's your participation trophy and a bag of swag. Switch bowl games so they can go to different locations and have a better rotation of different other conferences to play. With the "playoffs" coming, this problem will get worse.

The Outhouse Bowl and The Chicken <hit Bowl, seen that way too many times. Time for a change.

Next year, the B1G and I think the SEC and Big XII will have a lot more control over which teams go to which bowls. Should avoid much of these problems.

I normally agree....

But this is LUSs first Outback Bowl and we havent played Iowa in like 15 years....

If LSU went to the Cotton.... Tickets would be sold out... Cuz its close..

I'm allergic to P&G gear.

Can only tolerate it when I happen to score tix to the UF-LUS game in BR. Even then it takes copious beerskies to keep the reaction manageable.
