NHL ready to take the Vegas plunge

07:37 AM ET 12.18 | If the NHL is to expand again, where and when might that happen? The NHL party line hasn't changed. There are no formal plans for expansion but if they expand and everyone assumes at some point, they're going to, the common knowledge is that Seattle is the primary target in the Pacific Northwest. The strong sense I'm getting now is that Las Vegas is second on that list behind Seattle and the NHL wants to be the first major professional sports league to put a franchise in Las Vegas. People in Quebec City may be saying, 'Hey, what about us?' Well, keep in mind, there's no rule that says if they expand, that they only expand by two teams. The possibility of expanding by three teams, with Quebec City being one of them, is at least something that will be considered.

Will the poison dwarf ever learn? There are at least 4 hockey markets in Canada without a team that would be better options.

No, lets do Phoenix and Atlanta all over again <<wretching into my waste basket>>

Dallas in the same boat as Pittsburgh? Niskannen is the only d man still skating from the start of the season. Ulfie's little boy Phil debuted against Toronto on Monday night.

Hangover IV?

Well at least the players won't have any temptations there to do stupid things in bars, get involved in gambling, etc. But even though Bettman gets the heat, nothing happens that the other owners don't approve.

I'd like to see a team in Seattle but not through expansion, just move a team that isn't working in its current market (Panthers, Coyotes, etc.). If the league adds up to 3 more teams talk about talent dilution, the 3rd & 4th lines on most teams will be filled with marginal AHL players you've never heard of before.

This week's sign that the Apocalypse may soon be upon us.
