No good signs for B's Eriksson

07:39 AM ET 12.18 | Even if the Bruins did win Tuesday night, they've been losing in the injury column over the past week or so. Loui Eriksson has been out for more than a week with his second concussion of the season's first three months, and he wasn't feeling well enough to make it into the B's team facility at Ristuccia Arena on Monday morning. "He hasn't even come to the rink," said Claude Julien. "That's the only thing I can give you right now, which is not a good sign." For a team that's seen head injuries significantly affect the careers of Patrice Bergeron, Nathan Horton and Marc Savard in past years, that's not good news at all. The devastating Brooks Orpik hit on Eriksson in the first period of a game more than a week ago against the Pittsburgh Penguins was the cause for the head injury.

Love the expression on the woman behind him.

Feel bad for the kid though. Hope he gets better soon.

Wilson was suspended in Juniors for a hit from behind.

Having said that, Schenn bears some portion of blame. Schenn sees Wilson coming, and turns face first into the boards.

You know, the comment "he was facing the boards" keeps coming up- what the heck are people supposed to do, play the game with their backs to the boards for 60 minutes? The puck is along the wall, how else do you play it? Maybe sometimes the guy with the puck might try to draw the penalty but I think that typically happens when there is close-quarters play along the boards, not when they are going to get freight-trained.

opera claude.

Watch the video. Schenn is skating parallel to the boards, he sees Wilson and turns and faces the boards.

And yes, Wilson's intent is clear. To hit Schenn.

IMO the Leagus also bears blame. Players now believe if they turn and face the boards they can't be hit.

I agree. If you see an incoming player, the choice between playing the puck or the body should be clear. ALOT of cases of a guy getting his bell rung result in the puck handler completely ignoring his own safety.

All I know is that if I was Schenn, that puck woulda been off my stick a long time ago and I woulda braced myself for contact.

That being said...definitely a suspendable hit.

The only way it ends is they do away with the "Instigator Rule." Failing that, start handing out suspensions that mean something, like ... 20 games to start with. The teams, coaches and the NHLPA should be fined heavily too. Make 'em hurt in the wallet. A 2 or 3 games suspension looks too good to pass up for anybody who wants a little break.

As long as we keep blaming the victims, not much will be done about it.

Yeah I saw a guy who saw a hit coming and turned to the boards (I didn't even bother watching the Leafs last night. I knew what was coming). Dumb.

Saturday should be fun.....
