Quick return may force a deal

07:40 AM ET 12.19 | All along, from injured goaltender Jonathan Quick to goalie coach Bill Ranford and GM Dean Lombardi, the message has remained consistent. The Kings are not going to rush the process. Quick suffered the injury Nov. 12 at Buffalo, a grade two strain. Lombardi said Wednesday afternoon that Quick's return might come during the first week of January. After Christmas, the Kings leave on a four-game trip that starts Dec. 28 in Nashville and concludes Jan. 2 at St. Louis. ... What the Kings do after Quick returns is unclear. Does rookie Martin Jones, who is 6-0 with three shutouts, stay in Los Angeles or return to the minors? Do they move Ben Scrivens, an unrestricted free agent after this season, for an asset? Ranford is staying out of that debate. "That's what Mr. Lombardi gets paid the big bucks for."

Strange situation in the USA net. They looked like a lock to have the best goaltending of the lympics...now it`s a big question mark...

And with that defence, they're going to need the very best out of their goalie. Tough call.

Canada. Gold.

Yeah...pull the rug out from underneath him, much like he's done to hockey fans.

QUOTE(#10):

Russia has no goaltending, no defence and a forward corps half made up of KHL'ers.Unless home ice advantage is THAT significant, they aren't winning.

Home ice is significant. How significant remains to be seen.

Canada = paper champions. Paper champions have a magical way of getting surprised by teams who outwork them.

I never bet on my own teams.

I wouldn't bet on the Leafs either.

Then again, I don't bet.

Yeah I don't see a Mike Babcock team getting overworked.

Nor do I see a team with the quality of players that team canada will have being outworked either. This isn't that pile of dung excuse for a team we sent to torino.
