07:29 AM ET 12.20 | Tony Gonzalez made a name for himself in the Bay Area, but not one of his 110 touchdown catches -- the most ever by a NFL tight end -- have come at Candlestick Park. [He] returns there Monday night. ??? Gonzalez is steadfast that he'll retire after this season, which the Atlanta Falcons (4-10) will finish with games Monday night against the 49ers in Candlestick's finale and Dec. 29 against the Carolina Panthers. That's not to say the Cal product doesn't think he could return for an 18th season. "I absolutely could," Gonzalez said. "But it's the end of the road for me. I put everything out there and I'm completely satisfied. I don't have any regrets and I look forward to what's next." Gonzalez headed for retirement after last season's loss to the 49ers in the NFC Championship Game, then reversed course.

, and the Falcons ain't one of them.

Didn't we sing this song last year ?

I think everyone has learned what NOT to do in retirement by watching He Who Should Not Be Named.

December 20, 2013  08:51 AM ET

it's a shame he won't retire with a ring...

December 20, 2013  09:01 AM ET

Shouldn't he be discussing this in March when everyone is talking about free agents and such ?

Yes - we did.

He should think about if he wants to be remembered in the same vein as that dude down in Kiln, MS. Because - that's where he's headed.

Meant to also ask how was it?

Cameron Yoe 35, Wall 14.

Tied at 14 going into the 4th Quarter. Then Cameron forced three turnovers and turned them all into TD's. Seats were full between the 10 yard lines in the bottom two sections. Also caught the second half of the game before.

If I lived down there, I would happily pay $20 a ticket and spend a day watching four football games. It was a wonderful time.
