Five-man QB race setting up at WVU

07:39 AM ET 12.20 | On the one hand, depth at quarterback won't be a problem in Morgantown this coming season. Still far from being determined, however, is the more significant question, namely who will emerge as the frontrunner from what could be a five-man group. This week's signing of junior college quarterback Skyler Howard brings to four the number of scholarship quarterbacks on the roster. That includes the three holdovers from last season - seniors-to-be Clint Trickett and Paul Millard and sophomore Ford Childress. And if Baltimore Dunbar high school quarterback William Crest goes through with his commitment and signs a letter of intent in early February, it will be a quintet. And it will also be wide open. ... [Dana Holgorsen's] thinking on the matter isn't known.

UF keeps losing QBs....is this where they're all going....?

If it's true that if you have 2 quarterback, do don't have a quarterback:

Then, If you have 5, does that mean you have 1 2/3 quarterbacks?

December 20, 2013  10:04 AM ET

UTK's math on that was bad this year. They had 4 and I believe the math came out to about 0 good qb's.

Surely, there's at least one who will prove capable in the coming year... Please, let there be at least one. Then again, the O-line will be gelling anew. Make that one serviceable QB who can serve as turf-butter in the early games, and another who can ignite the Vols O throughout the remainder of the season. Oh, Football Fates, hear my petition and answer!

VFH, is there a QB whisperer on the Vols coaching staff? Or, prospects for procuring one?

December 20, 2013  11:08 AM ET

I'd settle for one GOOD QB.

It means they have 5 QB's who demonstrate equal suckitude.

who knows man...word is Ferguson is better than Dobbs but hurt himself in practice, thus when Worley got hurt, Dobbs was the ONLY healthy QB of the 4.

With all that said, Worley getting hurt was bad. He was starting to get in the groove, taking UGA to the wire and beating SC.

Serious question, VFH...

Why, oh WHY, is UTk not THROWING money at David Cutcliffe? He's the cure for all that ails your Vols! Go GET him!

While I am not VFH, I will give my answer and say it's because they are already throwing all they can afford at Butchie, and unless/until he craps the bed, Cutcliffe is off the table for UTk.

UTK made inquiries when Fulmer has ham-fisted by Hamilton and when Dooley was escorted from the premises. Now, Dave wasn't about to succeed his pal, Phil (Likely, too smart to work for Hamilton), but could have considered Hart's overtures but for the commitment he made at Duke. He took the job at Duke and stayed because he'd committed himself to building the program, there. An honorable man, Dangerous Dave is not a job hopper.

Besides, I suspect Mrs. Cutcliffe likes the triangle and, at this point in her life, isn't too fond of moving.

I would posit that the bed has been crapped.

A strong UTk is good for all of CFB. They need to get their groove back.

If Mrs. Cut is happy, then Big Dave is wise to stay put!
