09:45 AM ET 12.22 | There seems to be no limit on the amount of bad news the Nets can get this season. An already disastrous start to what was the most anticipated season in team history took another huge blow Saturday morning when the team announced Brook Lopez suffered a fractured fifth metatarsal in his right foot during Friday night's 121-120 loss to the 76ers in Philadelphia. The Nets didn't put a timetable on how long Lopez would be out, saying they would release an update later in the week after consulting with their team physicians, but it seems likely he will miss the rest of the season.

it stinks when bigs go down as there just aren't many of them

Can't believe he plays for both NY team. Maybe that's why the Knicks were losing. They hadn't have their center for the longest time. Brooks must be the first NBA player ever to play for 2 teams at the same time.

It would be funny if the Cleveland fans are right and the Cavs end up with a better record than both NY teams.

Things went from bad to worse. The value of centers just went up with this injury

the nets have blatche and kg -
I doubt they make any move (not that they could anyway)

+1

I'd start Evans at PG and Blatche at C. Play KG off the bench with PP on the second unit. They'd beat up most second units.

*Evans at PF*

I'd consider a minor move for a backup to add some depth on bench but no blockbuster trade.

I just don't see the Nets getting over this one. Lopez is the quiet star on a team with a bunch of paycheck stealers....

I'm late to the FN party today and surprised this obvious typo isn't fixed yet. Despite the obvious jokes, i'll say that there aren't many true quality big men left in the NBA these days and Lopez is one of them. This is a tough blow for Brooklyn
