Do the Oilers love misery?

07:53 AM ET 12.23 | The door to Edmonton's dressing room remained closed long after the Blues had rung up a 6-0 win. [It was] long enough for head coach Dallas Eakins to have his say. He questioned the players about their inability to sustain the level of play that they exhibited in the first period of Saturday's game, and how it was that the team could just roll over and give the game to the Rexall Place visitors. It was, of course, just one more miserable night for a team that has lost six straight games, 24 of the 38 they've played since the season opened with far more promise than this. ... "It's like we love misery," said Eakins. "I've had enough misery already and we have some players who have been here for a number of years. They have to be done with it."

Is there something in the water in Edmonton that causes such self-loathing? Seems to me it's the Oilers fans who love misery the most. If they would only stop paying for this cruel torture and stop going to those miserable "games" maybe that KL guy in management, who thinks he's Albert Einstein, would finally get the message. I wouldn't hold my breath though. He ain't smart enough to figure out he ain't.

they remind me of Mets' and Jets' fans....
And like Mets' fans especially...are they just as happy when someone else loses as when they win?
Nothing pleases a mets' fan more than a Yankees' loss

But aren't the fans part of the problem to begin with? The team very clearly announced that they were going into a full rebuild and the fans cheered as their team tanked for draft picks. I've been saying it for years...any fanbase that'll sit on their hands and cheer as their franchise is very clearly making zero effort to compete really deserves this type of karma.

Why should they? They get paid tons of money regardless. BTW, wouldn't you love to get a fraction of what they're getting paid just to be awful and miserable?

It is misery and nobody is loving it The big problem is the owner who continues to let Klowe sewer the team.
