07:35 AM ET 12.24 | At long last, some good news on the injury front for Mark Teixeira. On the Yankees' offseason so far: "I'm really happy with the moves. We had plenty of holes to fill, unfortunately, but when you can go get Brian McCann, Jacoby Ellsbury and Carlos Beltran before Christmas -- even guys like Brian Roberts and Kelly Johnson, I think can be huge pickups for us. ... I'm really excited." On his rehab from right wrist surgery: "I'm close to 100 percent. I feel like I'm healed. I wish I was a little bit looser; my wrist is going to be tight for a while because of the way the surgery was performed. They had to kind of tighten everything up to make it secure. It's still a little bit tight, but that's why I'm doing rehab every day and doing exercises every day. I'll start swinging a bat in January."

If he comes back at the production level of his good years it will be the Yankee's biggest off-season news.

On this Christmas Eve a Christmas song for everyone:

Christmas time is here again
Santa needs a helping hand
He cannot find a single sheep
To draw his sleigh across the night
So all the waiting Christmas trees
Gonna hear the master say

There's no presents
not this Christmas
There's no presents
Tom and Jerry drinking sherry
They don't give a damn

Christmas time is here again
Santa needs a helping hand
It's getting very very late
Saint peter's closed the golden gate
And Donald Duck is still in bed
I wonder who is gonna help

There's no presents
Not this Christmas
There's no presents
Tom and Jerry
All that sherry
They don't give a damn

There's no presents
Not this Christmas
There's no presents
Tom and Jerry
Still drinking sherry
They don't give a damn

I'm dreaming of a white sabbath

If he can stay healthy Teixeira could make the difference in the Yankees winning the East Division in 14.

Tex is the perfect example of what a baseball player looks like as he ages without the help of peds.

Or maybe the PEDs helped him age quicker. They do work differently for each person.
Is the sheath tendon injury related to PEDs? I know some injuries are linked to PED usage, not sure if that is one of them.

If his hips were going like a German Shepard I say peds.
The tendon sounds more like a carpel tunnel thing like us on keyboards.

Nah. He has been a steady decline for three years. Ya could look it up.

His power numbers have remained stable just his average really. and it dropped off in 2010 has stayed steady at about .250 since.

Interesting "trivia" question I came across:
The Red Sox used nine lefthanded players in the outfield in 2012. How many can you name?

I don't think that wrist of his will ever be at 100%.

It just needs to remain stable..... if it can do that and he can put up with any pain..... he'll play.

The Yankees better hope they can get that Japanese pitcher (Tanaka sp?) otherwise their rotation is still a mess. They should produce more runs this season with guys like Beltran and Ellsbury, but they have a long list of players who get injured alot and they are counting on them for significant roles: Tex, Ellsbury and Roberts just to name a few. They really need a bounce back season from CC.
