Crosby: 'He almost blew my knee out'

07:45 AM ET 12.24 | The Penguins lost more than a game on Monday night in Ottawa. The team lost top-line right winger Pascal Dupuis to an apparent right knee injury just 3:35 into the game after a play in which Senators defenseman Marc Methot landed a hip check on Dupuis' linemate, Sidney Crosby, knocking Crosby into Dupuis. On the play, Crosby had a head of steam skating down the left edge of the slot. When he attempted a move to split two Ottawa players, Methot responded with a hip check that took out both Penguins like bowling pins. Dupuis had been skating in support of Crosby as Crosby carried the puck. "I don't know how low it was," Crosby said of the hit. "He almost blew my knee out. It was pretty low. I don't know if it was right above my knee or by my hip. I just know that it was awfully close."

Now he's whining about hits that are clean.

Everyone whines about clean hits. Why shouldn't he? I am surprised he didn't go over and try to sucker punch Methot when he had his back turned. I think that would have been the appropriate response rather than just simply answer a question when asked. (Note sarcasm).

On a different note: To those who celebrate, hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas.

mah, he wears the wrong Black and Yellow jersey for that kind of stuff. (new england tweak)

But I will say there was absolutely nothing wrong with the hit

Thanks DWI. Hope you and yours have a wonderful Christmas too.

It would be interesting to see the comments if Methot took out one of their favorite players, but such reasoning is anathema on this board.

I used to know what a hip check was until they started calling penalties on them. That one looked like a good old fashioned hip check, like they always used to throw. Didn't look like anything was wrong with it, the refs agreed too. The weird thing is it didn't effect Sid as much as Duper who got collected in the wreck.

that's what i thought when I saw the highlight.
I think though, that Sid probably should have mentioned Dupuis and HIS condition first, before talking about himself...just an observation. If that had been another player, would we all be saying how selfish that was? Just asking. I don't know how Sid is as a team mate

Yep. Ugly on Dupuis. They are dropping like flies on the Pens, and it finally caught up last night. They will need the break, and hopefully we see some of them come back (and stay) for awhile.

If Sid wasn't "sure" how low it was, blah, blah, then just say "not sure," whatever, and leave it at that. If he intended to relay that, it is NEVER gonna come out that way. He should know that by this point, and keep the yap shut.

See my comment above. I am not disagreeing.

If Sid saw replay, (and I am assuming he had), he could have said as much.

He didn't take out anybody so the question is more of a trolling, really.

Though I do applaud the Pens' fans obsession with the true Black and Gold. ;-)

And yes absolutely a Merry Christmas and wishes for an enjoyable and relaxing Holidays.

Like Burgh-Fan I remember when hip checks were legal and considered an art form. Now? Not so much. Anyway, Merry Christmas everyone, have a great holiday season!
