07:35 AM ET 12.26 | Miami has a game to play, the Russell Athletic Bowl, but it will also be holding its breath on tight end Clive Walford. After [Al Golden spoke on Wednesday], 6-4, 259-pound junior Walford said he will decide on bowl night whether to turn pro a year early. Walford is the father of a nearly 5-month-old son, but he did not say whether that will affect his decision-making. Walford played in all 12 games this season, starting 11. He has 30 catches for 372 yards and two touchdowns. ... "If I stayed on the team I could be a major leader for the squad." He would not reveal which way he was leaning. He said he has not gotten back his evaluation from the NFL Draft Advisory Board. Underclassmen must declare to the NFL by Jan. 15. Said Walford: "It definitely won't go down to the wire. I'll make my decision directly after the game."

And if you're a high draft pick in the NFL, unless you totally scroo the poochie, you will probably be OK without it -- or go back and finish it when your playing time is over.

Did some dumb jock steal your lunch money when you were a kid? You need to get over it, soon.

It's not a good idea to make decisions when emotion is high ... like after winning or losing a bowl game. It's best to wait and let the decision be data-driven.

He's got a 5 month old child - that right there is some serious data to consider.

Kid, grab that 4th round draft money, and take care of your shorty. You can always ignore going back to school, once you flop in The League.

A lot of the risk of it being a 1 year gig will be on him, so he has plenty of influence in making it NOT a 1 year gig.
