07:07 AM ET 12.27 | Both Kyle Shanahan and Jim Haslett talked to reporters on Thursday, and they called it as they saw it. The Redskins' two coordinators recognized that the odds of them remaining in Washington were slim but they tried not to speak as though a change in the coaching regime was a done deed. They tried, but they didn't quite succeed. Each of them made a slip of the tongue that indicated that that he thought that the end is near. Shanahan was asked about the experience of working with his father and he put it in the past tense. "It's been a great experience being with him," he said. "It's something that I'm definitely glad that I had -- or have had." Haslett was talking about the future of the organization but he removed himself from it. "I do think they have the nucleus to have a good team," he said.

Thanks for the scoop.

They seem to have a better grasp on reality than they did their play-calling.

Then Kyle asked reporters where they thought his dad would be coaching next, so he can start looking at houses

And Now, The End is Near!!! They did it Their Way!!!

Black Monday is coming soon and don't worry Shanahan you will have plenty of other NFL coaches joining you on the unemployment line.

Right? Who saw this coming?

Don't worry Kyle. Daddy will get another job somewhere which means you'll get another job too.

If Kyle ever wants to be taken seriously, he should consider venturing out on his own and proving he can do the job without daddy's help.

Not as a head coach Bud. Mike Shanahan is done.

You know Kyle had the #1 offense for the Texans before becoming the Coordinator in Washington. Everyone saying nepotism is the only reason he has a job. Granted Kubiak worked for Mike, but numbers don't lie and he had Schaub, Foster and Johnson killing it. Look how good the Texans have been without him. Schaub=benched, Kubiak=fired, team sucks......

I think he's slowly coming to that realization.

I think everyone will be fired in Washington. Not that it matters. Snyder will screw up the next coaching staff too.

If this was M Shanahan's 5th and final yr of his contract he'd be gone faster than you can say go away. But he has one year left at 7 million. What more proof do you need that the Skins need a new owner, GM and head coach. The GM has a name and no inkling of NFL talent evaluation.

From what I've read, Shanahan had final say regarding player acquisition.

So much for having a GM in the first place.

You think? Geez, give us a break with these non-stories. The Natives stink

Doomsday Preppers - Have the coaches buy a bunch of AK-47's and hijack the Redskin team from Snyder. They could set up gun turrets at the stadium.

The End Is Near! Are they descendants of the Mayans? If they know something they should just come out and say it. Some end this is, what, Mikey gets fired and still is owed millions of dollars? That is my kind of ending.

If Jim Schwartz is a Black Monday casualty, his payout is $12M. It's almost worth it to keep him around for another season... although Lions fans might disagree.

December 27, 2013  09:49 AM ET

Snyder should hire Jerry Jones as his GM since he's done such a bang up job down in Dallas.

It's the last game of the regular season for a time out of the playoffs, of course the end is near!
