Griffin has become a target

07:11 AM ET 12.27 | On Thursday, the Clippers grudgingly accepted the NBA's admitting that Blake Griffin shouldn't have been ejected from Wednesday's game against the Warriors. [But] Los Angeles still is coming to grips with the perception that its All-Star forward has become a target. ... [Griffin's first technical foul came] when the Clippers power forward and Golden State reserve Draymond Green were given double technical fouls at the end of the third quarter. Green, who was fined $15,000 by the NBA for not leaving the court in a timely manner, was ejected after he hit Griffin with an elbow. It's that sort of thing that Green did that makes some think Griffin has been targeted by some of his opponents. "Everyone is a target at some point in their career," Clippers Coach Doc Rivers said. "And you just play through it."

Maybe he can become the spokesman for Target

Griffin is overrated. He'll be one of those guys who never wins anything. He's no Karl Malone talent wise. Those Kia commercials are good, better than his BB skills.

December 27, 2013  08:25 AM ET

That picture with the story is a good one in that it shows the ONLY skills Griffin has.

December 27, 2013  08:30 AM ET

Physicality is part of the game. Being one of their best players of course he's scouted and planned for. He needs to shut up and start taking it to the opposing defenders. Basketball is not for pretty boys. If he played in the Jordan era, nobody will know about him.

What has Griffin won or accomplished? Has he ever gotten far in the playoffs? Ever won an award?

Karl Malone was light years better than Griffin.

December 27, 2013  08:35 AM ET

That kid is a pure beast. He is better at basketball than any of us are at whatever it is that we do. If you all don't think that Blake Griffin has BB skills, you don't know a thing about BB. Why target a guy without skills? As for him dunking all of the time, the crime isn't that he dunks all of the time, the crime is that no one can stop it. That same, lame argument was used on Wilt and shaq too.

I disagree even though most fans and even Clippers fans agree w/ you. Blake has improved in so many areas and has improved every year. He is more like Dwight w/ lesser known defense but better outside shot and free throws. His low post is evolving and can really score down low now.

Um, no......
Not everyone is targeted

Only players perceived as soft or weak minded are

On the contrary.

I think if he played in the 80's and 90's, he'd be more accustomed to physical play (it bas a huge part of the game).....and as (primarily) a physical player, he'd be able to get away with doing a lot more on both ends of the court than he does now.

Additionally, he'd be able to get away with a lot more in the way of 'retaliation' then versus now; so there'd be a lot less 'incentive' for fringe players and chumps to try to punk him out.

Face it......the NBA in the 80's and 90's was an era that was made for bullies, and BGrif would've been near the top of the heap.

Malone was better than Griffin, but not hardly light years. What did Malone ever win? So what he hasn't won championships or awards. Neither did Barkley, or Elgin Baylor or hundreds of other great players in every sport. That boy is a player. We always talk about how one player can't win on his on, then punish a player for not winning on his own? Look, you are entitiled to your opinion, but I think that you are way off on this one

B.Grif is definitely weak minded.

He'll 'fight back', but not in a meaningful way. And what I mean by "a meaningful way", would be a manner by which others would thing twice about coming at him 'sideways'.

If he were to do to Andrew Bogut, what Jabbar did to Kent Benson.....trust me.....other players in the league would definitely take pause.

Instead.....BGrif gets caught up in ticky-tack crap that only serves to get the attention of the officials.....and further 'eggs-on'' his competition.

Uh, an NBA MVP, scoring titles, and numerous eastern conference titles. And Malone is the second leading SCORER in NBA history.

Barkley was NBA MVP too.

December 27, 2013  08:47 AM ET

Western conference titles for Malone not eastern

December 27, 2013  08:48 AM ET

Malone 36000 points, Griffin slightly over 5000. I'd say LIGHT YEARS.

December 27, 2013  08:49 AM ET

Malone almost 37000 points.

1. He never won a scoring title.

2. He played all his career in the WESTERN conference (LOL...smh) .

3. He is second in lifetime scoring due primarily to John Stockton's talent and the style of play Jerry Sloan had his teams playing.....
