Vikings fear a Metrodome melee

07:06 AM ET 12.27 | Even sentimental crews can cause some damage, something Minnesota officials are trying to mitigate. [The Vikings] want a peaceful, orderly send-off Sunday for the Metrodome, the stadium the team fought so hard to leave. "We want to send it off in the right way," Vikings spokesman Jeff Anderson said Thursday. "It's a historic building, not just for Vikings fans, but for Minnesotans." To ensure that calm is kept, the hometown NFL team is bringing in extra security for Sunday's noon finale against the Detroit Lions. The Vikings also hope to slake fans' thirst for historical tokens by handing out commemorative items. The goal: to avoid the wholesale destruction that occurred after the team's final game at Metropolitan Stadium in Bloomington in 1981. The game plan: zero tolerance.

A few Lions fans, perhaps.

I don't think anyone in MN is going to miss it.

The problem is Vikings fans ownership don't want you to take stuff from the Dome, instead they want to sell it to you.

As he yelled to his wife as he was being taken to the police station in handcuffs for attempting to steal a seat.

That actually happened at the last game at Candlestick. At Candlestick they needed the extra security when rumors on the internet were that people were trying to incite a riot by telling people they should mob the field after the game and tear up the field.

The most entertaining event at the Metrodome in the last few years was the snow caving in the roof.

I hope the Vikes win on Sunday... a nice parting gift for Leslie Frazier.

Candlestick is a dump. Worst place I have ever watched a baseball game in. Good riddance.

December 27, 2013  09:26 AM ET

Absolutely the worst seats I have ever sat in. After the third quarter it felt like your knees just took a hit from Chris Doleman. Why anyone would actually want one is beyond me. Good riddance, I say.

True but Candlestick has a pretty rich history. Why would any Viking fan want a piece of the Metrodome? To celebrate over 30 years of futility?

Easy -- don't let anyone in ...

How else are they going to come up with money to sign their next garbage QB?

December 27, 2013  01:25 PM ET

Ya seriously they are bring in hundreds of guards to make sure you do not remove your seat or any other suveneer. They aren't letting you out with the goods and have been widely advertizing that. Hey they need to sell this crap in order to pay for the other fiasco.

Oh come on. All those superbowl memories! Oh I forgot, there aren't any.

The applause for the end of this season should bring the roof down.

That is, if it doesn't come down by itself first.
