07:18 AM ET 12.27 | For the second time in a month, Jadeveon Clowney has found someone who can stop him off the field. This time, an officer from the Columbia Police Department stopped one of the nation's top defensive players and charged him with going 84 miles per hour in a 55-mph zone. The stop took place around 10:30 a.m. Thursday on the outskirts of Columbia's downtown, where I-26 meets I-126, according to a traffic citation obtained by The State newspaper. ... "I tell you, he needs to go to driving school doesn't he?" USC coach Steve Spurrier said later in the day. ... "At least he'll have enough money to pay for it in a week or so. Hopefully, they'll send him (to driving school) after the bowl game." On the amount of fines, he said: "They keep adding up don't they?" Clowney on Thursday was issued a $445 ticket.

That's SEC speed right there!!

and typical SEC response. JC, for punishment, you won't be able to start the game, so you won't be on the field for the kick off. That'll teach him.

Clowney will be all right, his SC bonus money will cover the ticket and the charges will disappear from his record.

He'll find out really quick no one in the NFL cares how highly he was rated or how dominant the media made him out to be. He has a lot of growing up to do.

Why should he be punished AT ALL???

Speed limits are simply a means of collecting revenue for state and local governments. Nothing more.

I'm kind of surprised that the Columbia police dept hasn't be accused of clown profiling.

Since John Wayne Gacy's capture, ALL clowns are suspect!

I really hope the Raiders don't draft this guy.

Clowney's got bust written all over him.

Anyone who hasn't gotten a speeding ticket, or has never sped in their lives, raise your hand. *crickets* Give me a break. He wasn't even doing 85. The LAST ticket was a bit excessive, but I remember doing 117 on the highway at his age just to see if I could needle it. He's "famous" so he gets extra attention for something EVERYONE does.

Let me ask you this Nick, were you in a matter of months about to become a guaranteed millionaire??? We all did stupid stuff like this in our young days. It's not the act, its his lack of good judgment that raises eyebrows on this and could have an affect on his future employer. Not real smart if you ask me.

i'm sure the officers who have given clowney tickets are clemson fans..

There was a lot of hype built up around this guy based on one highlight from a game that happened almost a year ago. He hasn't lived up to the hype. I'd like to think that most NFL GMs will remember that. But for the ones that don't, thankfully there's a rookie spending cap that will keep them from spending too much in Clowney before he proves whether or not he's worth it.

Maybe Clown and Puig can ride together?
