08:35 AM ET 12.28 | USC junior center Marcus Martin will forgo his final year of eligibility with the Trojans to declare for the NFL draft, he announced Friday. "I will not be coming back for the 2014 season," Martin said on his Instagram account. "I have decided to move on to the NFL and declare for the draft. Thank you Trojan Family for all that you've done for me! This will be a season I will never forget as long as I live and I wanna thank the coaches, my teammates and the fans for all that we've endured as a family! I am and always be a Trojan for life." Martin was a first-team All-Pac-12 performer in 2013 in his first year playing center. He suffered a knee injury in the season finale against UCLA and did not play in the team's Royal Purple Las Vegas Bowl victory over Fresno State.

I don't find fault with any kid that leaves early. College is a means, not an end.

I agree totally.

Just keep all the "blood suckers" away from you kid and save most of the NFL $$$$$.

You won't be too old to go back and finish school when you NFL career is over.

What would any father say if his kid came home after his junior year of college and said " Hey Dad, I got a chance to earn a couple of million, but I would have to leave college after this Spring Semester. What do you think I should do?"

It depends on the dad.

If you've not earned your degree, do so in your down time between seasons.

If he is projected to be a first or second round-take the $$$ and run. 3rd round or later-he may want to stay and up his draft status and $$$.

Exactly; unless he is in for a big payday he's better off getting more experience and a degree.
Lot's of kids only last a year or two in the NFL and don't cash in.

The "Big Juicy" will be sorely missed.

Some get cut the first year, didn't get much money, and have no degree.

He's probably a 3rd or 4th rd guy. I think he is making the right move. If he got hurt again, he might go undrafted altogether. Damn good lineman. Good luck Marcus!!!
