08:44 AM ET 12.28 | The NHL's Christmas break wasn't long enough for Winnipeg Jets goalie Ondrej Pavelec to forget what Nail Yakupov did to him earlier this week. Edmonton's second-year forward caught Pavelec with an elbow during the second period of Winnipeg's eventual 6-2 loss to the Oilers Monday night. Yakupov was driving to the net and looked as though he could have avoided making contact with the Jets goalie. "It was cheap. Cheap shot. Elbow in the face," Pavelec said. "You can get hurt from that. It was a danger. I had no idea it was coming. Just a cheap shot. Puck was behind the net. Just did it on purpose, pretty much." The Jets didn't react to the hit until late in the game, when a scrum that included captain Andrew Ladd stick-jousting with Yakupov broke out.

Definitely. If he just kept going he would have missed him, instead he threw out his elbow. If the league is serious about head shots, why didn't they at least fine him for that one?

Uhhh. Never mind, I answered my own question didn't I?

Maybe not that funny but it was cute (icle).

C'mon, Ondrej. Tell the truth. You didn't feel that elbow until after the smurf scored on you late in the third period, did you?

Jets are far too used to not having crap like that called, and then getting the extra roughing, or a major called when they go about doing anything about it - the Battdung League obviously has a woody concerning this franchise - but if G.Ari actually has any grey matter he'd be smart to start using it. The only thing that surprised me about it all, was Gadzic thinking that he was standing up for the little crap-star when the teeny twit got an ordinary body-check laid on him 'way later - what ensued was pretty much the same process as Thonrton-Orpick only with far more serious intent, Marcus was lucky enough to get hold of the League's newest goon ('cause that's what he is now) and deflect most of it - and was given a coincidental fighting major - bad joke. It was an obvious gamer and a visit to the Shanny-shed - but that's a a big, yah right.

6 goals 8 assists and minus 25 in 38 games played.

I would call Yakupov's stats anything but sexy...

The only one that has truly impressed me for stats and team play is Evgeni Malkin. Federov was good with Detroit......but I do get the point.

Yakapov will be an ok player, but at this point he's not even close to comparison to the one in D.C as he does impress with his numbers and beat out Crosby by 2 pts for the Calder trophy with 104. #87 gets a lot of crud thrown at him, but he can play and he's concerned with having a good surrounding cast as his contracts have been less than others while he's done more....Ovie is at least earning his money in goals scored!

But.....Yashin etc, etc, etc...........and holding out before it was a fad!

Bad russkies! Bad!
