Vikes players plead to keep Frazier

07:16 AM ET 12.30 | At the very least, if Sunday was embattled coach Leslie Frazier's final game, he went out with a win. Like a number of Vikings players, the reigning NFL MVP was using his Sunday postgame interview to make a public pitch for management to keep [Frazier] amid rampant expectations that the team will fire him Monday. "Like I've been saying all year," said running back Adrian Peterson, "we're a total of six minutes from being in the playoffs and having a chance." ... [Defensive tackle Kevin Williams] also was among those asking for Frazier to be given a chance to at least finish out his contract, which runs through 2014. "He's done a great job with us," Williams said. "When he stepped in [during the 2010 season], he got us a couple of wins in that bad season, and then he had the playoff season last year."

Leslie did a good job with the team but lost a few quality players during the offseason and AP suffered as his Fullback wasn't juiced this year.
Trade away a williams to make way for Shariff, maybe get a 4th rounder from a contending team looking to stop the run (Chicago, Washington-guess I should say teams thinking they contend).
drop Josh Freeman and Christian Ponder, keep Cassel for next season. Sign Miles Austin in the offseason for little bit above what everybody else was offering.
Go convince Antoine Winfield to come on as a scout/DB coach.
Draft a OG, MLB, S with your first three picks in the draft (will be hamstringed by no 1st rounder).
Then try and convince Steve Hutchinson to come back for one more year.
Trade John Carleson and some no name CB who showed a little promise to Dallas for Jason Witten.
Pray AP doesn't lose a step.

I always wonder about players that plead for a coach to not be fired. Are they pleading for the coaches job or their own?

Both Detroit and Minnesota need new Head Coaches. Neither team made an effort to challenge Chicago or Green Bay, and both of these teams were hampered by QB injuries.

Trying to see what they had in Ponder probably cost the Vikings a chance of making the playoffs and could cost Frazier his job. Like AP said you turn those four loses they had in the last minute of those games to wins and they would be hosting a playoff game this weekend.

Not unexpected. Another poorly run organization.

They should whack the GM while they are at it.

The Vikings need to retool. Get rid of Jared Allen, Williams and some of those useless CBs. Patterson need to be game planned more into the starting role. If Manzel is on the board you can not pass him up. Sharrif and Griffin need to anchor the defense line, pick up a couple of offensive lineman and quality linebackers. Also, obtain a new head coach and coordinators.

He was fired and the show NFL is playing the race card about Frazier being fired. Why can't we just look at a person as a person and not one's skin color.

The show NFL are trying to play the race card over the firing of Frazier because he is black. Why can't we just look at a person as a person and not their color of their skin.

Yes: Youthify. However, Manziel, exciting as he might be in the NFL, is probably the wrong fit. (See him in Cleveland anyway.) The issue is the coach and he's got to fit into Viking land and be happy with the hand that he's got and can have.

"Mongo just pawn in game of life!" I am not a big Frazier fan but as he indicated in yesterday's post game press conference, he was strongly influenced to start (Ponder and Freeman) by the GM and the ownership. While Cassel is not the long term answer he very well could have gotten them to the playoffs this year. I have no idea what the Wilf's will be looking for in a coach as they will be playing outside for the next 2 years and then back inside the new Taj MaPeople's stadium.

This roster lacks talent. IMO the GM is more to blame than the head coach.

If I were the Washington Redskins, Leslie Frazier would be near the top of my list. Just seems like a good fit to me.

Frazier's a fundamentals guy, who gets great play out of his defense and special teams. And I think he'd stick with a power running game that would keep Alfred Morris productive while reducing the number of unnecessary hits that RGIII typically takes.

They would do better to plead for their own jobs. Maybe they were? New broom sweeps clean.

My opinion is that everyone involved in the Christian Ponder mistake should all be fired.

Harsh! His father had no idea when it all started. Total unintended consequences.
